Retards in this thread won't understand that while many think that Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 may be more enjoyable or better games that doesn't mean that there's nothing to learn from the past.
Elden Ring is fun, but it's naive to say that some of the unique things in older games weren't lost, unique things that I liked and many others aongside me too. Elden Ring is very good and has a lot of hard work behind it but there are still things worth missing about older games, anyone with a brain knows that the constant checkpoints in Elden Ring were a detriment to the game and drastically devalue the good level design and shortcuts, there's no real reason why the devs should bother to make a thouhtfuly designed level if you can just spread 5 sites of grace all over a castle, in contrast, Demon's Souls only had ONE checkpoint per level, maybe that's not enough for you, maybe you'd prefer if Demon's Souls had more checkpoints, but we can all agree that 4 sites of grace are way too many for Midra's manse for instance.
This is just one example of something done well in older titles and done worse in recent titles, there's something of value in remindin ourselves and others about this because we want preserve what we enjoyed about these games instead of letting it go carelessly, and I don't say this out "old good new bad autism", there's nothing I want more than to enjoy new games, if I criticise something it's because I really feel it, Elden Ring is still 30 times better than most games out there anyway but basedboying about le perfect masterpiece and never pointing out issues is not what helps things improve.
