The entire thing came about because iD had to use some unmastered stuff to string together a few songs on the album because Mick didn't have enough time to make song versions of all the music in time for the albums release. So the audio engineer at iD arranged a few of the songs. By all accounts the sound guy in question is a decent enough dude and had no desire for or involvement in the drama other than just filling in for Mick as was required by his job.
When some people noticed that a few of the tracks were muddier than others, because they were made with rough, compressed, stuff for the game. Mick said why and it's not something he'd allow to happen by choice.
This caused a bigwig at Bethesda, iDs parent company to flip his shit and go on a war against Mick. Calling him unprofessional, constantly missing deadlines and not sending in requested music.
Unfortunately for this bigwig Mick kept records of literally everything and called him out which just made the corpo triple down even harder.
