The gameplay is pretty fun. They've added a bunch of stuff that the old games didn't even have that I am loving. Being able to transition grinds without popping up a different trick is easily my most favorite thing.

But the world, and the missing features, drag it down. Where's skitching? Why can't I key frame replays? Why are there no handplant tricks? Why does the world look and feel so artificial?

I spent about three thousand words writing up stuff for the feed back page, and it's a testament that 80% of that was complaining about how the game world feels, missing mechanics, loot box progression, but I'm still actively wanting to play the game. The gameplay is fun to do, that or I'm an abused spouse that can't walk away after finally getting some affection after 15 years.

I'm having fun in skate 3 on rpcs3.

Does this game have the longest tutorial ever? Day 3 or 4 and I am still not finished.

Loving it so far honestly but it feels more like an open beta than an early access release. Not a lot of meat to the story missions and it's pretty buggy even by Skate standards, constantly getting "return to session marker" stuck on the screen and even doubling up sometimes, tons of issues with party play, and last night all the roads turned black and featureless while cars flickered in and out of existence. Really is fun though, especially in co-op. Been having a blast shooting the shit and knocking out challenges with people and doing random throwdowns. Looking forward to updates.

You def feel the speed in gameplay imo, and speed and landing angle factor heavily on whether you wipeout or not, if that helps.
There's a bit of videogamey-ness, same as other skates/3 for fun factor, but it's definitely easy to mess shit up. The fun of technical footwork is there, and cool sequences.

I am on base settings expert mode and no camera change and it does not look like that. Your method for getting speed is also not good, you need to pump smoothly and don't need to spend so much time crouched, pump the transition of ramps and flick up really quick then hold it up to get max air. You also need to ollie earlier than you think.

Make sure maintain camera distance is OFF.

and personally? I recommend you lower the follow strength of the cam if you want a less rigid feel. lower means your character can turn and the camera will follow after.
Keep the camera framing high, and remember you can toggle it (if the setting is on) with right stick to be low to board or high. I prefer high overall. Left stick toggles camera side too btw.

This feels like they took skate 3, a game that was already kinda sanitized compared to the other two games and sanitized it even further for fortnite babies.
The gameplay is honestly fine, except for the physics. I can't consistently get a high enough ollie and it feels like its random even if I hold the stick down for ages. But if good gameplay is all it has then I can have a better time just playing skate 2 again.
I hate the voices, the "characters" (that never actually appear in game) the music blows, and the parkour and climbing is stupid. Just teleport me to the cool spot don't waste my time making me play Uncharted. Even bailing is lame now, no broken bones, no torpedo spinning in the air at 10000 rpm, and your character gets up like nothing happened.
99% of people who play skate don't care about the cosmetics at all, but at the short times they did, it was done extremely better in every other game. Real brands of clothes, boards, glasses, shoes, etc. Skate culture is dead in this place. One of the most realistic things about skateboarding is being able to do it anywhere, finding a random area in public and making it a real spot to do tricks on. Not a mashed together playground baby crib of ramps and rails.

Vee is one of the worst characters ever made in human history.
This game's attitude and presentation in general is the exact opposite of real skateboarding culture. It's not just corporate and soulless(Like how half the songs are terrible trash with lyrics about skateboarding), it also desperately panders to people who don't skateboard as it treats the sport like a fashion accessory for people who want to look like retards and faggots.

If it wasn't for the gameplay, this game's presentation would render it unplayable. You can't even make a normal dude. It's always some ugly Fortnite caricature of a Brazilian. It's one of the most unappealing skateboarding games ever made. It has no idea what kind of people actually like the sport.

But goddamn is it fun to go fast and flip around.

It's actually pretty interesting, when you think about it. Skate3 is supposed to be your Skate2 character, but now they're a big shot, and making their own company. And it ends up being a a more sterile, corporate feeling game.

I never ever saw or heard someone playing these skate games longer than a hour. Every childhood friend i had with tony hawk started the game up, did a few tricks and got bored instantly.
Whenever i hear someone talk about these games i hear more about the music and how they did a trick. Nothing else. No cool maps, no great art, missions or quests or story. It makes me feel it leaves nothing memorable.

so they can introduce verticality to the map. that was the immediate difference I noticed, is how many more spots they could fit into the map because they were no longer limited to where players could physically skate to. I think it's a good addition. in Skate 1, one of the most hidden spots was a pool that you could only access by glitching up a single staircase, for example. now, half the buildings in the game have spots hidden on their rooftops.

it would be neat if Faith makes a cameo in the future for a series of parkour challenges; simple missions where she challenges you to get to a certain part of the map within a time limit

it is a cool idea but a lot of those rooftop spots feel extremely unfinished or underdesigned. they definitely should improve and add more roof spots because they dont have much real estate to work with currently and I doubt the north shore expansion is coming within 6 months

it would be cool if we were able to create persistent landmarks on the map so when I find a cool spot I could mark them on the map for later. The only other game I remember letting me do that is Genshin Impact.

the current city is absolutely getting changes. the stadium will eventually get an interior and anywhere you see stuff boarded up and construction gear will be expanded in the future. so like taking the highway from the bridge right now leads to a closed off tunnel that will be opened eventually. there are a few other underground spots like that. but thats something they've been doing for a few versions now

and yes the north shore seems to be a reworked version of Fun City from the original playtests and it has some proper sanfran style hills and shit
