Resident Evil
Best way to play through the original versions?

Where they ahead of their time? Full motion video with real actors & voice over work was unheard of at the time wasn't it?

The tank controls never bothered me no idea why the journals at the time gave it a bad rap?

Modded/patched PC versions or emulate PS1 versions.

Only the first game has FMVs with actors, and only for the intro and outro.

Tank controls require high IQ and journalists are retarded.

Not really, Sega CD had plenty of live acted full FMV crap. It was cool to see getting implemented in GOOD games this gen though.

Not at all. Why would you even think so?

>Best way to play through the original versions
The original PS1 versions are always a safe bet.

I can vouch for the REGULAR "Director's Cut" and the Nintendo DS ports of RE1 though. They're good.

RE2-3 are arguably the best on Nintendo GC, but the PC port + Seamless HD mod is stellar.

If you just want to play them ASAP, the recent GOG re-releases are easily available.

>Where they ahead of their time?
No, not in any way. PC had already had CD games with FMVs for years.
RE1 simply polished and arguably coined the term "Survival horror", and re-vitalized the Zombie genre, after Romero's films had already become old news.

>The tank controls never bothered me no idea why the journals at the time gave it a bad rap?
They didn't. That's just zoomies gaslighting you.
No one had trouble with the controls at the time. It's literally only around the iPhone-era, PS3-4 days, when the casual-era GenZ babbys started experimenting outside their Call Of Uncharted slop, and were hit by a massive culture shock of the older games not using their standardized dual-analog action game controls + tons of handholding elements.

Are the PS5 versions of RE2 and RE3 solid?

for some ungodly reason, my grandparents gifted me resident evil 3 as a kid. i had nightmares for days after seeing the intro cinematic and playing the first like 15mins.

Aren't they on GMG or whatever?

Not sure why they're not on steam
