I have my possible explanations.
Video games encompass a very wide range of different electronic entertainment. There is a certain tendency among men to find literary fiction less interesting as they get older, where they tend to read more non-fiction, philosophy, and such. This may explain why games heavily based on narrative begin to fail to entertain older people.
Many modern games are more interested in placing you as a supporting character in a grand narrative than simply offering mechanics and rules for you to interact with. If you've only played these things your whole life and are unfamiliar with other types of action-arcade-simulation focused games, then it's possible that you simply get tired of video games, just as you probably got tired of novels and shit.
