Most people, and by people I mean people who live populated cities, already had DSL internet in 2004 when HL2 released. 10mb files were really not that big of a deal back then.

If it wasn't gay ben, it would've been someone else. Steam wasn't exactly popular when it first came out and was just DRM for Valve games, but people warmed to it over the years as everything else became worse. Steam has remained pretty benign in comparison.

1) steam was actually created to push updates for Counter Strike and make sure everyone was playing the same game
2) its been 20 years, did you finally manage to download the 10 Mb patch?

>Thats because we are not the customers silly, shareholders are
That's pretty much it. Valve is a private company so they don't have to worry about shareholders outside the company who just happened to buy some shares and demand line goes up this quarter. They can actually plan ahead without having to fuck over their customers because in the long term that's more profitable. The rest of the industry hates them for that.

I don't know if it was literally Steams original mission statement but very early on the big man himself said it was all about convenience.
>Piracy is almost always a service problem, not a price problem.

Sure, you can claim Steam killed physical games and releasing broken games is totally Steam's fault because you can just shove out a day 1 update It's not Steam's fault, but I'll roll with the narrative but transferring data was getting cheaper and quicker at a mind blowing pace. Digital stores and online updates were going to happen when data got cheap. Steam just got their foot in the door first. And thank god they did. Look at the customer service/unfriendly to consumers nightmare that other storefronts are. Steam isn't an angel that saved gaming and uplifted society but it could be worse. Much much worse.

Monopolies aren't illegal if the market leader isn't doing things to keep their lesser competitors down
Valve literally do nothing and their lesser competitors fuck it up all by themselves

I'm just imagining the timeline if Steam didn't enter the Market when they did. Like if EA somehow won the race with the "EA Online Storefront" and we'd all be talking about how cool EAOS is.

Man, I remember when Anno 2070 came out you could only install the game like 2 or 3 times before it locked you out. You had to literally pick up the phone and call the Uplay customer service number and explain to them why you wanted them to grant you more "install tokens".

physical died the day thumb drives came out
the nails in the coffin were cheap hard drives
the first thing you did when you still bought physical games was ripped it to iso and used a cd crack so you never has to use the disc ever again and when you wanted to reinstall games it was fast. 48x cd drives sounded like a fucking table saw and were still slow as molasses.

He isn't. Battlefieldfags will literally do ANYTHING to stop people from going back to Call of Duty. And with them supposedly reducing SBMM and disbanded lobbies, Battlefieldfags are in panic mode. Of course I know better and won't be fooled by CoD's faggotry. They lost my trust with Cold War and I won't be going back. My friend already said he pre-ordered it like a fucking retard, but I won't even gameshare it from him, I refuse to play CoDslop, just like I refuse to play Battlefieldslop. FPS games are dead.
