No.
Too fiddly puzzles. The contraptions get really interesting, but then you also need to dash race the elemental bullets and manually make it switch tracks 4-5 times.
It was fun the first few times, but then it starts getting annoying because basic things like your deflect angle not being consistent, or the switches have inconsistent activation time.

At which point it starts getting annoying.

Way less than 30% of the game is solving dungeon puzzles. But almost 100% of the gameplay is puzzles if you consider combat and exploration to be puzzle-like, which I do.
Combat almost always involves some kind of weak spot or defense you have to break before you can damage an enemy, so it feels more like a puzzle than action.
Exploration, the game is divided into several major areas which are full of treasure chests you can only reach by circuitous paths. You have to figure out what level of elevation it's on, then follow the path backwards into other screens looking for the spot that will ultimately give you access to where you need to go.

The actual puzzles, the dungeon puzzles, are the only fun part about this piece of shit, and they constitute probably 10% of the game. 20% is shitty combat, 30% is shitty story, and 40% is shitty exploration,

Combat mechanics are kind of like a more hectic Mana game. Enemy design is more Zelda-y, with many enemies wanting you to approach them in specific ways instead of just mashing (but mashing still works eventually in many cases)
Story has an interesting premise, but the setting interferes with the pacing and there's a few plot holes or unsatisfying resolutions.
Anonymous No.723023652 [Report]

Maybe thats just how the DLC felt to me or it was just me looking back as I played through it years ago. As the raid was 'okay,' the island was a giant circle and I only went back to it to finish my 100%, but saving everyone and seeing Lea being happy was nice.
Anonymous No.723023910 [Report] >>723029394
I found the puzzles really exhausting.
They would introduce a new mechanic and then give you a trillion increasingly harder puzzles when really 2-3 times would've been enough. Just give me easy, medium, hard instead of putting another 500 inbetween difficulties.

A tiny bit on the cringe side depending on your tolerence for HAHA ITS A VIDEO GAME GUISE, but good enough with some good hooks.
My only gripe is with Apollo and Joern. While great characters, the dev seemed EXTREMELY adamant that the player would not pick up that they were gay.
Like seriously, if you didn't figure that shit out by the jungle area you were heavily in denial or just plain retarded. Yeah bro, we get it, you can stop dropping increasingly gayer contextual hints every other appearance just in case someone didn't get it. Let them be normal people I don't even give a shit that they're gay, you're just trying way too hard.

Been awhile so I don't remember it all that clearly. Main thing that comes to mind is having a world map you slowly traverse while being bombarded with encounters. No fast travel, there's a quest lategame to unlock teleporters with limited locations to choose from that you'll still do plenty of walking to and from. Untrimmed fat like that.

I hate how bizarrely sexless the game is, besides Lea's Leas.

Be sure to mention how the game ends abruptly and cutscenes the rest of what should have been the final boss and story because the dev ran out of money and just cut it and shipped it.
I've never been so disappointed by a game that started out promising and just turned to shit every step of the way.

The puzzles in this games are not very fun because the difficulty comes from the execution of the solution rather than having an insight of what to do. I say this as someone who consider puzzles games my favorite genre by far.

Play Stephen's Sausage Roll or something like that, people. The difference is night and day.

I think the main reason the puzzles are disliked is because there such a big contrast of gameplay between the outside world and inside dungeons. At the start of the game you are treated to a somewhat long tutorial, but then you finally enter the island and you can just run around blasting everything. Feels pretty great. You get the false impression this is what most of the game will be like: bright cheerful colors, fast-paced combat, hype music, just running around doing MMORPG shit with party members that have lot of friendly banter.

Then you enter your first dungeon and the fun ends now. You are isolated from your party members, no more "LASER BRIDGE!" or big nerd saying big nerd things, no more bright cheerful environment, it's all cold and monochrome, and you can kiss goodbye to running around blasting everything. There's still some enemies but you mostly just do puzzles, again, and again. They're not bad puzzles, but the problem is that the game is a 9/10 outside of dungeon and is a 7/10 in dungeons. It's a big downgrade. Everything that makes this game unique is stripped away, you want to explore the MMORPG world and uncover the mystery of Lea's identity while goofing around with party members and all of that is put on pause so you can relentlessly do puzzles which are definitely not as interesting. When the non-puzzle content is so good, the puzzle content is just an annoying formality to get done with.

tl:dr if they removed 90% of puzzles and allowed you to bring party members in dungeon this game would probably have received a lot more love.
