Just go to "CHARTS," disable all filters, and deep dive to the fucking bottom. It may take hours, but it's the most efficient way possible

I'm pretty sure it's ranked by wishlists and follows and page impressions too instead of just downloads. Any dev that actually cares tries to market their game and get a few wishlists for their game so they still appear somewhere near the top. The quality of games really drops off as you get closer and closer to the bottom. Though despite saying that, I still go all the way to the bottom of every fest.

In Dobble Dungeon you roll dices (starting with two, later can level up more) at the start of the character's turn and then allocate them to whatever attack or ability you want. Not always it's about the biggest number, sometimes ability require specific type of value or more than one dice. These dices are the main and I think only source of rng and with how you can freely allocate them to your needs, it really feels like you're the one in control of the outcome. Each hero has a different skill tree with multiple abilities to spec into. Skill points are share between the whole party so you can even make one character overpowered at the expense of others. Missions are presented as branching tree, but you can always go back to do mission from different branch if you wish which is something I really like. One of the starting heroes is also busty demon-girl.

Smash ist Wild is a turn-based volleyball game. Each of your three players has different set of servings, each applying different perks and properties to you, your opponent or tiles of the board. Position of players on the board is important since not all characters can move equal numbers of tiles. The most important attribute of character however is stamina, that depletes whenever character moves, catches ball or gets pushed around. Without stamina, character can't move. The gist of the game is to tire out and outmaneuver your opponent to get a window to land a score. In between matches you get set of events to upgrade your players.
Worth pointing out that the demo got update since the start of the Fest with new UI and different starting team.

there's been some people who have been buttmad that the devs decided to make a vampire survivors clone instead of the ULTRA GROUNDMAKING AMAZING rpgmaker stuff they did before, but I gotta say they've done an actually great job with it so far. a ton of weapons, a good upgrade system, scaling difficulty that keeps you engaged, it's definitely at the top of the mountain of VS clones out there. kind of an odd choice to do the story with the assumption the player is already intimately familiar with the Divine Comedy, though.

I think that's Japanese. I played once until I died. UI is awful. One of the worst UIs I've experienced. The upgrade system is confusing and doesn't feel that impactful with the upgrades being kinda boring. The game doesn't explain its systems so I probably missed something. Could be alright if they keep improving on it. Will be shit if they release this with more content.

The character designs suck though, also the ragdoll looks dumb. Game feels like it's having an identity crisis. Might give it a look still

dark auction was okay, but not particularly great, but also the demo was also a bit too short to really get a feel for it. the first time I tried playing hotel dusk, I wasn't grasped by the first 30 minutes so there's that. the camera movement was really fucking bad though jesus christ who thought that weird pseudo-snapping was a good idea. also gay that they pussied out and call hitler "dictator x"

If you mean Kotama it's nothing really special, combat animations are a little stiff and the main gimmick is using basic attacks to cover enemies in ink before using a powerful finisher on them which also restores your HP, which you'll need to exploit since you're very fragile. However, you can just abuse parries (which has a rather generous window) and dodge whatever you can't parry. There's no estus charge system and you just heal directly off your money.
As for exploration, the demo itself starts you off with a glide then you unlock a slide and double jump after killing the minibosses guarding them, which you can use to backtrack to obvious locations requiring them, but the rest of the map is then restricted by special doors you'll probably need abilities unlocked in the full game.
That leaves the remaining appeal to be the gacha/vtumor reject character designs.

bros I just want to say I played Portal for the first time today and I finally understand all those stupid cake is a lie jokes everyone was posting about 20 years ago. better late than never I suppose, but now I am filled with nostalgia for that time, which is now gone and will never return.

Hell Maiden's art and music are great as expected, but mechanically didn't feel like anything special. I expected more 'continuity' for such a story based game. Being teleported to the boss arena with a fade to black is pretty lame, as opposed to like, traveling the map or something like when you rescue the blonde.

I thought Hell Maiden will be another VS clone but I am hopeful after seeing that runs are around 10-15min, it doesn't feel braindead like most of VS-likes and it seems like there will be at least 9 stages with unique boss fights at the end of each one.

When I was a teenager I swore off vidya because I decided I was better than that and wanted to focus on other things, now I'm older I'm just looking back to see the things I missed. It was fun and extremely well made. Apparently the dev process had a lot of play testers and they moulded the story around their feedback which prob partly explains why it's so good.

Not that anon but I also played for the first time and finished Portal 2 this year. I should have done it sooner because I ended up loving it but I was busy with other things.

I'm having fun with Hell Maiden, hopeful that it keeps my interest the whole way through, I really like that the stage end with a boss fight because it makes it feel different from the usual VS-likes, I hope this sells better than their last game too because I liked it but they seemed to be disappointed with the sales.
I am however not a haremfag and the game feels like it's going that direction so that's something I'm going to have to power through.

The card upgrade/hand management system is cool and requires more thought than the average upgrade system, but it's not enough to carry the game. It's certainly one of the better VS clones but again, doesn't break any new ground.

every time I see someone call something a VS-like my mind instantly goes to void stranger before I remember they're talking about vampire survivors, which isn't even the first in the genre but also a pretty bad one compared to say holocure or picayune

dunno if this is a part of next fest, but I just played Abyss Kitchen.
10/10, you're playing a furry shota/loli, you "search" bushes, dead bodies and other part of scenery by hovering your cursor over them to gather materials. Enough materials give you an "instant meal" which you can feed to the members of your party. Giving food to your girls levels them up and at max level allows you to use ultimate. Your party attacks monsters and bosses but you have to avoid all projectiles. After the stage is done you can cook for your party, vanillaware style. Pic related, you can turn mushroom lady into a mushroom soup.

The actual platforming feels good enough though grinding on rails SA2 style probably needs some refinement. The demo level was actually fairly long. The environments and music were pretty repetitive.

It's NeverAwake but more arcade-like, instead of having a level select. You have a floating doll to give you extra fire power and ties into the special attacks. The route you take is a combination of three letters which vary the difficulty quite a lot.

Horror game from the Hrot dev. Had some unintentional(?) funny moments.

FPS with Souls like elements, including leveling stats. Seemed alright; didn't make too much of an impression on me. I'll be curious to see how it looks when it comes out of early access.
