I'm mostly PC gaymer but I also own a Switch. I wasn't going to get a Switch 2 yet but my wife inherited a fuckload and she insisted I treat myself so she bought me one. I wasn't really sure what to do with it so I figured I'll take another run at BoTW and ToTK since they can now be run without stuttering or framedrops, which killed a lot of my enjoyment the first time around, despite the overall quality of the games. Runs great now, well, after they nickle and dime you for another 20 bucks to get the upgraded versions at least.

Still, it's a great experience. One of the few games that still manages to instill a feeling of wonderous exploration and absolute freedom. Sure, it's nothing super serious but I doesn't fail in keeping things exciting. I've played nearly all of the older Zelda titles while growing up and because of that I'm supposed to hate the new ones judging by "popular contrarian" opinion. I don't get it.
If I think back on ToTK release threads I think a lot of people just fuck up the new games for themselves by metafagging the fuck out of it, grind out all the upgrades (completely unecessairy) and then find themselves in a situation where all challenge is removed because they ran across all over the map for upgrades / le ebin best gear without actually properly engaging with the game itself.
Just play this shit blind and it becomes so rewarding.

BotW's enjoyable if you go in expecting a big sandbox to fuck around in instead of dungeon delving with a sense of steady progression.
TotK's enjoyable if you haven't played BotW.

That's not it at all. There's nothing wrong with liking the games because they are solid, but they're not what the Zelda games should be like because it introduces many issues to the series and both of them get fellated so much despite that. BotW as a whole has ruined NIntendo because now every game has to emulate aspects of it. Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Mario, top-down Zelda games, Metroid Prime; it's all becoming BotW. The games also do not lend themselves to replaying or 100%ing them and it's a chore to do either compared to any other Zelda game because of how long it is and how boring and monotonous Korok Seed collecting is on top of cataloging every single item in your Pokedex.

You wasted your money.
I grew up with consoles, still got a shitton of older systems, but after ~2010, there's really been zero reason to purchase a livingroom console toybox.

I still regret for falling for PS4 Pro and Switch 1. Yeah, I got 'em used, but they are literally collecting dust. PC gets ALL the games now, in better shape and price.

>ToK
I loved BotW. Easily one of the best video games since OoT and MM.
But TOK I just dropped quite early on. And by "early", I mean 50 hours in, zero story content done, and I even found the final boss arena by accident.
It just does not have the same vibe.

Plus you could've already emulated that shit 3 years ago.
