why does no one hype up this game compared to hollow knight and silk song. the first was absolute shite. but ori 2 is so much better, it's like a different developer made it. and you can see all the influences that silksong took from it. it still has more complex combat and movement. better and less forced art design and backgrounds. better story telling and world design. is it really because of the dark souls mechanic so ppl can pretend it's a hard game?

it should go ori 2 >>>>>>>>> silksong>hollowknight >>>>ori 1 >>>>>>>>>9 sols

i just started playing 9 sols and got to the 2nd rest point and it seems like a clunky terrible game with no aura.

first, ori 1 was great you brainlet. in fact it was BETTER
>all the influences silksong took from it
lol lmao

>it still has more complex combat and movement
its true but its completely wasted, because the enemies and bosses of the game are a joke in comparison and its so lamely unbalanced that theres barely anything to discuss. The healing skill alone is the most braindead shit ever and even in hardmode you end up way too tanky
>better and less forced art
the art in ori 2 is forced as fuck compared to blind forest and hk/ss as it depends so much on "dedicated cool background rooms"

>better story telling
literally everyone unanimously agreed the ori 2 story sucked in one way or another

Yeah ori is fantastic.
Ori is like a real piece of art.
Silksong is like a crayon drawing made by a retarded child.

It's not just the superior art and smooth animation,
the polish, combat system, mechanical depth and programming are so much cleaner.
Silksong devs don't even know how to code but that's their own fault for lacking talent.

>first, ori 1 was great you brainlet.
yikes i guess if you like kid games like the old rayman and kirby games then you think it was good and obviously you can easily see that the quest and like home town ideas were stolen from ori 2 and all the skills and whatnot

>the art in ori 2 is forced as fuck compared to blind forest
it was the opposite, ori 1 had forced art and backgrounds that made no sense. and all hk/ss is is forced backgrounds and cluttering the foreground for no reason. and the story can be garbage but it is still better than hk/ss's "forgive me zanzibart" aah

what makes ori 1 more of a kids game than ori 2?
>ori 1
actually harder platforming
>ori 2
way too easy bossfights past the very early game unless youre super undergeared
dumbed down platforming and escape sequences 80% the time

also
>ori 2 invented small towns in adventure games
if anything ori 2's town is so stupidly shallow that it barely inspires shit
+ skills couldnt be more opposed to ori 2's. you get your actual own wide melee moveset, you get to have way more moves and tricks at once, the equippables are on a completely different level

>forgive me zanzibart
have you tried not being a brainlet and actually paying attention you GAYLORD
unlike the zanzibart auteurs they actually make the events relatively well described

I remember all the e-celeb and hollow fags blaming and making a fuss about the developers "copying" hollow knight with Ori 2.
But now that silksong released nobody gaves a shit about silksong literally stealing a lot of things from Ori 2 which is abysmal. The audience around these types of games are among the most retarded and pathetic pretentious piece of shit that only deserve to actually only eat shit.

Hype hype hype.
It’s still a top seller in the Steam metroidvania category. Great game but there’s nothing to discuss. Play it and move on with your life.

9 Sols has a weak opening, true, and isn't a great metroidvania, but I guess all my complaints about its weak progression and maps also apply to Sekiro which is what it wants to be and is decent at. I don't think anyone who's completed it would put it remotely that low.

Otherwise is that true, is Ori 2 that good? I really did not like Ori 1 at all, played it recently, outside of the like 2 sections where you just spam bash that is not a fun game at all.

From what I noticed lot of platforming mechanic, like gliding and bouncing platforms, probably a lot of other things as well but I don't give a shit because I didn't actually play silksong and don't really give a shit anyway.

>what makes ori 1 more of a kids game than ori 2?
you have a sword. compared to just jumping over things like rayman and yoshis crafted world
and if silksong wasn't inspired by ori 2 then they would have put that all in the first game but they didn't. they definitely would have had dark soul like quests where you just exhaust dialogue and then look it up on fextralife compared to the questboard. and all that town progression stuff directly lifted from ori 2. and idk what you are saying, but you have more skills at your disposal in ori 2 compared to like 3 attacks in silk song.

and yes they are wannabe zanzibart aahs bc there is no point in even progressing the game in silksong other than to force yourself to beat it. there is actually a story in ori 2 where you have motivation and there is a directional narrative force that wants you to progress through the game. compared to silksong where you have to force yourself past every screen for no reason except to say you beat this mid aah game. like there is no other reason to progress in the game. the silk mother made no sense. this is the core of terrible forced gaming

>>723313349
>there is actually a story in ori 2
Yeah, and it's the exact same story as Ori 1. Ori 2's skills are entirely superfluous as well since the combat itself didn't change in any meaningful capacity. You even get a bunch of movement skills to use in more restricted areas compared to the first so the impact is negligible.
Ori 1 was a fantastic first game. 2 proved that the devs are all style no substance shitters. NRFTW proves this further.

ori 1 is terrible, it plays like rayman from the playstation 1. in ori 2, instead of some floating homing missile you get a sword. it's less floaty and slippery. the combat change makes it feel like a completely different game. the game is still really easy though

and 9 sols just seems like garbage and not fun at all. the combat is clunky it feels like its laggy. the dash makes no sense, how does that get you past a laser barrier like in the phantom menace. it's not like sekiro at all. in sekiro you can try to force more slashes before an attack, in 9 sols, you have to wait after 1 slash bc you just can't force bc it's a simple 2d game. i literally rolled my eyes knowing i have to stop after 1 slash to parry bc it's just so forced. and the art is garbage too, it's so low fidelity i can see the blurriness and jaggies on my steamdeck

>why does no one hype up this game compared to hollow knight and silk song.
Because the developer dove headfirst into souls slop hell and we will never get a game like this from them again. Both games are great, but there's not a lot to say about them other than that.

The second Ori was also more or less made for convenience in order to allow more time in the oven for nrftw. The dev basically already gave up on Ori at the first game, and the sequel despite still being a beautiful game was also basically quite forced.

I did beat Ori 1, I distinctly remember that even at max upgrades the homing missiles are terrible and you're just supposed to spam the buttsmash or bash.
>the game is still really easy though
People say that, but those escape sequences that just murder you if you move the wrong direction were way more annoying than anything in any of these other games. Are there actual bosses in this one?

Non-basic enemies poise through your attacks in Sekiro too, even basic general minibosses just stop your combo, and the dash also has i-frames. It wants to be Sekiro and has all its problems too.
Arts kinda cheap yeah. It's not a must play, like I said the start is super weak, but tapping out after the second rest point is going to lead to a bit of a rift between your criticisms and the general consensus.

>ori 1
>harder platforming
Ori 1 didn't have any platforming. It was a visual novel. The "escape sequence" has the fucking water rise at the same speed as you do. The "game" is absolute braindead trash and you're a fucking moron. Utter goyslop for mentally ill furfags and neurotic tumblr arthoes.

The boss fights in Ori 2 are all Mario tier shit, they even auto-save you mid-phases, so any retard can just mash through it, hence no social media engagement, no boss guides on YouTube, no rage threads on Steam/reddit etc. It's an easy game that people just beat and move on.

Because Ori games aren't particularly good. The first one isn't even a metroidvania so it shouldn't exist in a conversation about the genre and the second one is just the first game but with a bit more freedom of exploration, more of a focus on combat(which isn't even good it's still just button mashing) and systems borrowed from Hollow Knight but implemented significantly worse.

They're very visually appealing games though. The artists who worked on Ori deserve a ton of praise. The other departments? Eh.

ori 2 also has rubberbanding where the escape sequences will get sped up if you go too fast, whats your point?
if ori 1 is braindead then ori 2 is double braindead, you have much easier platforming except you take way less damage and the combat is beyond braindead

Ori 1 was a fun precision platformer with a gorgeous artstyle and cool escape sequences. Not too hard, not too easy, you actually had to commit and make manual checkpoints yourself using a limited resource.

Ori 2 diluted the platforming, added tons of (easy) combat, borrowed a fuckton from HK including a cartographer NPC, charms, a nail like weapon and so on. You start with a powerful heal ability and respawn in the same room if you die.

Everyone loved the sequel and only talks about it when it comes to Ori games, my face when.
