I played it early this year, the map variety is an issue but you can't ask much of a 20+ year old game, the combat is still really fun, better gunplay and AI behavior than recent high praised slop like Cyberpunk 2077

I never enjoyed halo but the marketing roped me in. I might be retarded.

I finished 1 and then bought 2 I didn't enjoy either. Then the marketing campaign and halo 3 being the biggest budget game ever at the time, even airing a 1 hour long documentary that my parents saw at discovery chanel convinced me I should give it a try as well.

I hated halo 3 so much I didn't even complete the campaign this time.

I never touched a halo game afterwards.

Funny, CE was the only one I really enjoyed. I never wanted to visit Earth.

It's ironic that you compared two games that are elevated by their gimmicks. Max Payne, by the devs own admission, was saved by bullet-time. It could have easily ended up like pic related.

At Halo CE's release, it was still novel to have vehicles that you could enter and exit in realtime inside of a huge environments, nevermind being able to operate different seats and turret, or even being able to shoot someone through a window. GTA3 was like three weeks old.

I actually agree. But I think it's almost entirely nostalgia and rose-colored glasses for me because of the LAN parties. When the same friend and I who played split-screen on the Xbox revisited the campaign the collection recently we thought it fucking sucked though. I still like the mechanical feel of CE more than any other Halo though.

How often do you actually witness people falling asleep in the middle of gamechat? Be honest. I've seen it only happen twice across multiple decades of online gaming. I can still remember who it was, it's so rare. First one was a drunk native I partied up with in Ghost Recon Wildlands. The other was a gay Mexican I used to play Rocket League with, because he was a zoomer with depression induced insomnia. Pillar of Autumn, and Truth and Reconciliation are kind of mid actually. At least with the backtrack levels, you're blasting through most of them with vehicles and a shotgun, and the Flood vs Convenant infighting changes the all the fight dynamics.
