save states are a good thing, i use the checkpoint before boss mod in silksong and it dramatically improved the game

On a sidenote, howlongtobeat it's awful for retrogames, every casual bloats the times with save stated/rewinded playthroughs

I can see that. The game gets pretty tough around the airship world, even more so if you do the secret world. I replay through it fairly often and it can still trip me up. Also does anybody else remember K. Rool being harder as a kid? His fight is never as long as I remember it being.

Makes me wonder how people from back then managed to beat it, or maybe people just had a different attitude towards difficulty at the time.

I beat and 102%'d it on my SNES as a kid (I remember suffering a lot at Animal Antics in particular) so I'm sure every zoomer these days can do it too.

How I beat my games is none of you niggers' concern

Why would a self-respecting person let others know that they used rewind to beat a game that literal small children were able to finish no problem?

What does clarifying that even add? Imagine if I watched a movie and added it to a list but made sure to let everyone know I fast forwarded through the boring scenes.

Like who cares how you consume media but for fucks sake keep some things to yourself

>Get home from school
>Finish assignments
>Use rest of time to play vidya until dinner
>Eat
>Play for an hour or two more until bedtime
That's how everyone did it back then. Kids these days get home and just doomscrool on their phone, snack on some SSRIs and then pass out at 2AM after getting groomed on Discord

You just did it. Back then you would get maybe 3 games a year tops. Any other game you would rent or borrow. So for the few games you did actually own, you would grind and grind until you either got good enough to beat it, or just give up and essentially be down 1 whole game.

Funnily enough you'd still get called a no life pleb if you did all the things you said back in the day. If only people knew how much worse it could've been 20+ years from then.. you were in your own little world back then, but were still kept in check by having to still interact with the outside. Now kids are completely isolated from the real world getting absolutely ass-blasted by internet algorithms and tranny pedophiles on Discord.

How did this become acceptable? And why is it only acceptable in 6th gen and before? FromSoft boys would be freaking out if you used rewind to play a game.

I only play games on original hardware, dkc2 isn't hard it's just boring. The levels in the last half all suck cock because of how often you're forced to not play as a kong but a fucking snake or something stupid that rare put no effort or thought into beyond being a gimmick. So every level with them is some gimmick slop with baby tier difficulty challenges and the last half of the game sucks cock.

Anyone who says its among the best 16-bit platformers outs themselves as someone who never played past the first world, they're throwing gimmick shit at you by the second world and the last half of the game is bloated with it.
