Well this is coincidental I just started playing this a bit ago. I played it years and years ago but I'm shaking off the rust.

It's honestly a bit dizzying at times, I can barely keep pace on Emerald Courses so far (Lightning Pass or whatever has killed me so many times I can barely see where the track swirves out right form under you)

brown man here, I fucking love Nintendo, but this game was too hard. Thankfully Nintendo focuses on more important IPs

What do you mean? L2 and R2 buttons are pressure sensitive and can easily emulate the L and R buttons for the GameCube. I'm almost positive emulators already do this.

It's on switch and gamecube is the most emulated 6th gen console. In fact there's more people who emulate it than play on real hardware.

I'm assuming 50% of people who emulate have controllers with analog triggers and then there's the issue of how it actually runs, plus the fact it's a racing game in 2025

It's hard to get the right experience with modern controllers, because it was designed with 0 dead zone in mind since that's how Nintendo analog sticks worked but now almost all analog sticks have dead zones by default.

If anyone in the thread is playing it, check your controller settings and see if it'll let you disable the dead zone. You'll end up with much more precise control.

I've seen many GX threads. It's obviously not going to be talked about every day though. But the few that happen, it's constantly talked about as the best F-Zero game. Aside from a few guys who have nostalgia for 64.

I've seen a few of people defending "being a fan of something you've never played", and it was mostly Persona fans.

I don't like the F-Zero gameplay. In my opinion, it's based more on gimmicks than physics.
I prefer Wipeout-style games, like Ballistic NG, which I started playing recently. That game is really fun. You have your vehicle and you have to learn how to be as fast as possible within the physics of that universe.

I love very arcade, "gimmick" based arcade racer, they definitely can be super fun, and have a shitton of depth in their own ways. Heck Sega were master in that genre and GX is a Sega, it make sense.

But GX isn't it. 90% of the depth comes from bug exploits instead of proper mechanics, it's fucking trash. And playing the game the "proper" way isn't THAT hard (for Sega arcade racer standards, something nintendo fans have never experienced so they think GX is the hardest lolol) but you're gimping yourself for no reason and that point it's hard to enjoy the game knowing that you can just snake or do unfun MTS and break the game
