I need a game that makes me feel like playing SMT Nocturne on hard completely blind again. Something long, hard, and esoteric. Don't recommend other Atlus games please.

I put a hundred hours into darkest dungeon but it doesn't do it for me. I don't like losing 20 hours of progress to getting crit three times in a row. It also lacks that feeling of being a part of an insane narrative. I understand all the moving parts of darkest dungeon. I want something that is completely bizarre and esoteric and alien to me. Like when I played DeS and was dumbfounded by gravelords and vagrants.Or Kreia going on insane rants to teenage me. I'm rogueliked out from 100% Balatro.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous might be for you. It's quite hard if you're going in blind and playing on core difficulty, i.e. standard power for both player and monsters, though there are more monsters than usual.

I actually beat this recently lol. Great game, but the pathfinder/d&d style rpgs just don't really do it for me.

This looks amazing. I just bought it. It's a shame that the redux version didnt get translated.

You could try Underrail. Turn-based CRPG with a learning curve.

Yugioh Reshef of destruction you can get it on steam as part of the yugioh retro collection. That game is as tough as nails.

SaGa games. They obfuscate mechanics and often require plenty of playtime to understand.

From Soft games have the same philosophy if you accept action games and somehow haven't played them

Or maybe La Mulana

For turn based JRPGs there really aren't any that are what you're looking for.
