Is this worth buying if you never owned a Nintendo console, didn't grow up with Mario/Zelda and don't have le wholesome family to play with

The best way to find out is by emulating some of their games and deciding for yourself, no one can really tell you definitively if you'll like it or not.
Nintendo has made a bunch of great games, I feel like that's an objective truth, but that doesn't mean you're gonna like them.
Test the waters. Play a Mario and Zelda game for free before investing.

Yes and let me tell you why, the best and most critically acclaimed games they've made are on it all souped up with their current gen hardware. Switch 2 is the culmination of all their console hardware. Famicom had controllers that attached to the sides of the console. Gameboy is mixed with Gamecube/N64 here. We once put a cartridge into the console, and now we dock the console itself like it's a cartridge for your TV.

Feel free to consider that the Switch has gotten a lot of third-parties, including ports and multiplats, so there should be at least several of those of your liking there too.
I've bought Ball x Pit yesterday on the console for instance, and it's been fun so far.

the switch 1 is better because its hackable. if you skip the first parties and stick to the rhythm games and shmups its a good console. has miku, taiko, and pretty much every shmup in existence. also has hella ports and steam games

i don't even play vidya i buy and i still play mario shart and mario games bing bing wahoo

also now you can play steam games on it since the graphics are better, i'm only buying games on steam with good graphics from now on
