The inclusion of DVD players fooled the industry into thinking there was an actual audience here, resulting in the death of the industry due to overcommitment to the console paradigm that was already on its way out.

Got my copy for free as a kid from a friend who got a mod chip for his Xbox.

The game was super cheap up until Nick Robinson released his documentary on PD, then it shot up in price.

i had an xbox. it was so excellent in design. the ps2 was objectively better in terms of available games though.

For me it simply was. The experiences I had on 7th gen were the best. I liked the couch co-op times from 6th gen and the playing at home with friends from 4th and 5th. But the games I played om 7th gen were the most fun and I loved the early xbox live days on the 360. Also gaming started to become more accepted during that time and all of a sudden it was becoming something I could talk about with more people. There was an excitement and buzz around gaming that was just electric and fun. They were really good times.

That makes sense. I am older than you, so I was never interested in that side of things. To me the 7th gen was a time when the quality of games declined along with the quality of consoles. The only console that didn't cook itself to death that generation was an overclocked gamecube with an IR remote.

Yeah, played it for hours, suddenly crashed near the end and had to replay hours, so I stopped. 2 is rare for some reason(at least I cant find a copy).
I enjoyed the game as a shooter in a cool setting, but in no way did I find it scary like some people claim it is

It's somewhere in between honestly. It usually gets counted as 6th gen because Sega already had a 5th gen console (the Saturn), but I don't think the DC would have been able to keep up with later 6th gen games. Hard to imagine RE4, Splinter Cell CT, GTASA running well on it.
