They're right, in a sense. It's a bit of a tangent, but basically: the Resident Evil games as people actually remember them don't actually exist. The general perception of them is entirely formulated by secondaries who got their opinions from casuals and people who played them when they were kids (and thus bad at all games).
Everything about dangerous, tanky enemies, your limited pool of ammo and supplies, your limited inventory, the finite amount of saves being a factor, etc etc is all just pure bullshit. Play any classic RE game for the first time as an adult that actually plays games, and you'll be swimming in ammo and healing items even while killing all the enemies. Not a single one puts any pressure on your supplies, the layout of the map deliberately paces out key items so you rarely care about inventory space even as Chris, and it's already easy enough to use minimal saves without the fact that damn near every typewriter seems to have multiple ribbons near it.
So when they remade them, they did their best to make the memes true. OG RE2 gives you a billion bullets when zombies only die in like 5 shots. RE2make only gives you half a billion bullets and the zombies take 19+ hits, shrug off falling down stairs, have magnet hand grabs, deal a larger set chunk without a knife to shake them off, and so on. They brought the vision of what people thought the classics were to life
