They purposefully don't have high power weaponry that would put everyone on the station at risk. The Colonial Marines use armor piercing explosive tip rounds in their guns. Civilians on Sevastopol don't need such things. The Sheriff's low power rounds in his handguns are plenty to solve any troublemakers. Perhaps in the sequel they'll give you want you want, allowing you to kill dozens of them, then you'll unironically complain how it's not very scary and the original was better.

Only game I played that this made sense in was Fireteam Elite. Basic runners you could punch to death if you were strong enough, these are like the Xenomorphs in Aliens. Drones like the original Alien take multiple shotgun blasts to down though and would be much more like fighting a grizzly bear.

For some reason, modern film makers can't grasp the feeling evoked by finding some relics of events that happened tens of thousands of years ago. I got the original's intent when I first read At the Mountains of Madness. There's a sense that our history is a plain and when you find something older than that you fall off into some dark void outside of human knowledge. Marines were firing stuff one level below a laser gun with rounds that were basically micro grenades with penetration capabilities. This. It's a great game, but always find it silly you can't kill it even though you are given firearms and explosives. The NPCs will tell you that the game is supposed to be like Alien, but what the NPCs don't realize that Alien was a movie and this is a game. The exoskeleton of a xenomorph can basically shrug off small caliber bullets, the reason they die so easily in Aliens is because the marines are using armor piercing rounds and the xenos that die to the shotgun and the colt die because they are shot point-blank.
In Isolation you never have any ammo that is meant for war and so the alien gets a little hurt at most but nothing serious.

Covenant is misunderstood. Prometheus/Covenant are not Alien movies. They're about humans finding their ancient creators who hate them, then humanity's creation hating humans in turn. If you cut out the tacked on alien bullshit shoehorned in to pretend they're related to Alien (they're not), there's actually some good stuff in there. The majority of the audience was too dumb to understand what was going on with the poem David kept repeating. Ozymandias was about vast empires that were too big to fail, thought they'd last forever, but now are just dust. The Engineers thought they'd last forever and are now just dust. David wants to do the same to Humans. But David, who thinks he is perfect, infallible, and immortal, is called the fuck out by Walter for getting the author of the poem wrong and not realizing it.
