1. The old CEO was a boomer who refused to allow Elite to evolve, he was happy with just remaking the original Elite but with new graphics
2. This alienated the entire scifi community. Because all the obvious things you would want (player interaction mostly) was ignored, you couldn't even send other players credits
3. The CEO eventually quit (couple years ago), at this time the only profitable part of Frontier was their management sims
4. New CEO has doubled down on management sims, and turned Frontier from nearly collapsing to profitable
5. Elite is now a nothing title with no future
Some of the original design choices were also baffling. For example the main mode is Open which is a fully PvP environment with no punishment for player killing. Meaning it quickly became most peoples first experience where you flew somewhere only to get obliterated by a player. Not once in a decade did they fix this by making a PvE version, instead relying on third party private servers to host that option which is too convoluted for most people to learn about and access.
