I liked when Lara was a slightly sadistic arrogant character. Toby Gard was the first to play revisionism with Tomb Raider Anniversary where he made her into a soppy girl who had a panic attack when forced to kill someone (come on, if Indiana Jones can ice a guy without having PTSD, then so can Lara). He was a co-creator, yes, but he left after the first game and said he was unhappy with subsequent portrayals, yet if you look at how Lara is portrayed in the first game's cutscenes, there's consistency with how she's portrayed in Tomb Raider 2, 3, 4. He just straight up revisioned his own (co) creation and then claimed he'd always intended her to be that way. This set the stage for future changes. Bizarrely, as she got more "masculinized" in appearance, she became more "feminine" in behavior and less of the snarling tomboy aristocrat she was originally. I liked her better when she was almost psychotic and adjacent to a quipping Bond character. She's straight out of a comic book. Having her get into "realistic" survival situations with crafting is just missing the point.
