I looked very briefly at a gameplay video of it and it just looks like a blatant rip off of Vampire Survivors, but with le funny meme title and in 3D. Can't say I'm interested.

Anytime there's a downwards slope, big or small.
You can also use it while bunnyhopping if you don't want to lose all speed but need to make a turn or something
Hold ctrl, move camera to where you want to go, press w+space while still holding ctrl, and you will break all inertia and keep jumping towards the new destination.

I like it because it's 3D and risk of rain 1 was kinda shit so I haven't bothered to play 2

You should check the max speed on Calcium without sliding down hills and compare it to bunny hopping on other characters, it's almost the same speed (32-34) not counting the characters that lose too much forward momentum on jumps like Spaceman

Good for a few hours but you hit a progressing cliff at some point (around 10 hours in). At that point, you either drop the game or decide to play the ladder (a few meta build only and if the correct item doesn't drop during the first few minutes of play you restart).

I really wonder if the dev will keep supporting it or if he will run away with the money. I bet on the second one.

You need to add the correct twist (in the case of megabonk make it 3d and copy half from vampire survivor and half from risk of rain 2) and apply the correct coat of paint.

This amount of content in this game is shockingly small and nothing is actually original, most effects from items doesn't even have a visual effect.

Fun game, streamers all suck at it though because they arent bhopping. Grinding leaderboard is soul sucking though, you need insanely perfect item RNG in alll 3 tiers to even get close

It was a good flavor of the month game, but the meta is very rigid and there's little variety that really competes with that narrow meta so it gets a little too repetitive.

Got 28 hours out of it buying it before it became really popular. Its fun until you get to the point all people do is chase higher and higher scores. Knew game became big when i had a friend telling me about the new "meta" every couple days.

It's a Risk of rain knockoff, that had an identity crisis midway though development. The only thing this game has going for it is the momentum mechanic. Vampire Survivors and risk of rain 2 are better in every other way.

Good question, I wouldn't know since it won't run for me. If a game looks, feels, and has the file size of a game from 30 years ago, I intend to run it on hardware for that time. I'm even generous and will give it generation or two difference.
But it doesn't run, so I won't play it.
Not because I can't play it on my modern machine, but because I strongly believe in a concept called fucking OPTIMIZATION.
Hardly anyone seems to understand the concept anymore.

It's great.

The third person perspective and movement mechanics give it enough depth to be an interesting survivor-like.
