The number is higher and it has useful features like Microsoft Copilot, vital security updates that Windows 10 no longer has because it has reached end of life, and the UI and UX have been made simpler and easier to use on top of looking better. It's not funny simply because it's not a permanent solution.
The problem here isn't that win 11 it shit. The problem is that literally every single new windows is worse than previous one, and microshit is more and more aggressive with intrusions into your machine with each new iteration.
Something will have to be done about it eventually, and with the current state of games on linux I see no point in waiting.

Maybe it's a placebo, but I did notice every game runs very well with my 9070xt
There is a bit of a learning curve and some things that are different, but I can see why it's not for everyone.
I would recommend it, if you actually are sick of windows and not just RPing.

Or he can just use the official Steam package which is still distributed as a .deb file which means it's Ubuntu-compatible. In what possible way is Ubuntu a good use case for the Flatpak version of a program officially distributed in .deb format? I use Mint, so if modern Ubuntu is so shit that you need Flatpak to run Steam on it then I guess I'm just uninformed, but it's not as if Valve's .deb file is targeting Arch or something.
Yes, very ironic that SteamOS is Arch-based while the Steam web site still distributes the client as a Debian package, but that's how it is.

It's a point-release distribution based on Ubuntu LTS, so... yeah? I'm too lazy to guess which specific driver you have in mind and figure out the age of the version used by the current version of Linux Mint, but you're not getting this morning's driver updates regardless, not that I think you need them for anything but the warm fuzzy "I have the latest version" feels.
If using drivers from only 6 months ago gives you the ick for some reason, then you obviously want a rolling-release distribution and shouldn't be considering point-release/LTS distributions at all. I mean, literally, that entire category of Linux distributions is not for you, and you shouldn't waste your time asking specific questions about them.

gaytracing is a requirement for newer games to look slightly "normal". Indiana Jones is a game that looks vomit inducing without raytracing enabled. They somehow got the non-raytraced shadows to look so bad there it's like you're playing on the lowest of settings possible, even if you max out everything else.
More and more games are coming out with raytracing as a basic element baked in. What's more, they see it as less of an excuse to disable because performance has gotten better on newer GPU generations, even on AMD, so if the game runs at 60fps with DLSS or FSR with raytracing enabled on "modest" gaming PCs, it's "good enough" to make it a standard. What's considered a performance rapist now is path tracing.
So they better catch the fuck up or newer releases are just going to overall run like dogshit because eventually there won't be an option to disable raytracing, just "lower its quality".
