Why did it take so long for Bandai Namco to invest heavily on a Digimon game? Every game made before it is a 7/10 at best or an ungodly piece of shit at worst.

Time Stranger was in development for ~6 years.
They saw an opportunity for a big push with their anniversary, and went all in with a new anime and card game advertisements.
Bandai and almost all game companies only heavily invest in their most popular franchise (ex.: One Piece, God of War, Spider-Man) because they expect it will have the greatest return on investment: neglecting most of their other properties makes this a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Time Stranger is also 6/10 at best with CS and HM being 5/10. The only difference to CS and HM is it having a few more dungeon textures. Its a barebones JRPG. I'm not trying to shit on it, they are obviously improving and I can see thats the way they need to do it for now because they have too many models to do, but next game better be actually good

hardly. the farm's usecase is simple: train, pay money, get instant stats. blue stats are not reset upon evolving/devolving, but require loading digimon or de/re-evolving.
still, this time around level factors heavily into damage. you get like double damage from a 40 level gap.
some people agree with the new system, others don't. I do because any digimon remains viable and evolving doesn't become mandatory. that's not to say that signature skills are bad (e.g. lilithmon's poison decimates a good chunk of bosses)

Because most of the old Digimon games were made by BEC. They had some cool ideas but Bandai kept them on brutal deadlines, so the games always felt like 7/10s or worse, fun but rough. They got merged into Banpresoft and became B.B. Studio, which later gave us Next Order (surprisingly solid once it clicks).

Time Stranger feels like a sidegrade of Cyber Sleuth, it changed things, some are better, other are worse but they are very similar games.
Whats undeniably is that TS does have the better backdrops. Despite being something cosmetic, since their hallway map structure are quite similar, just having a factory or a forest as a setting makes it more pleasant to look at.

What Digimon are vary depending on who's telling the story.
In the original v-pet lore, Digimon are digital monsters that exist within technology and new ones naturally spring forth from the data humans create. Sometimes the Digital World is hosted on servers.
In the Adventure continuity, Digimon are the modern manifestation of the human collective consciousness through a digital medium. Youkai were basically that but in the past. A Digimon partner is like an aspect of your soul that encourages personal growth through your interactions with it. The Digital World arose naturally like with the v-pets.
In Tamers, Digimon was created in the 80s by a group of college students calling themselves the "Wild Bunch", who then sold their concept to Bandai who made it into a popular multimedia franchise. But it turns out that what the Wild Bunch created was real, there was a real digital world, and Digimon begin to materialize in the real world.
In Frontier, the digital world's origins as an extension of humanity aren't really explored, and it instead treats it more like a traditional isekai fantasy world made of data that can be reached kind of like Hogwarts.

About the only other gripe is the story blocks on evolution level feels a bit constricting. I think it's net positive, just because getting to use guys you normally wouldn't is fun, but Megas really do come in late.

Lucemon (X-Antibody) is pretty cool.
Some of the honorary original X-Antibody Digimon that basically have it built in without being a simple X-Antibody variant of an existing Digimon, like GigaSeadramon are cool.
I like how in Adventure:, MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon incorporated elements of their X-Antibody versions for Alterous Mode and Sagittarius Mode, but that's more general praise for Adventure:'s constant deep-rooted references.

But I think on average, they tend to be pretty overdesigned and don't feel like they fit with other Digimon. And typically I don't mind having multiple artists in one thing, I was never bothered by SMT IV's guest designers.

I'll admit that I prefer MetalGarurumon X compared to other X-variants.I still think a lot is lost in the design. I always really liked how Grace Cross Freezer revealed that MetalGarurumon was covered in hidden weapons from top to bottom, a trait that's lost in both X and Z'dGarurumon.

Also, MetalGarurumon X is one of the few X-variants that isn't just a pure straight up upgrade over the original. It has way more firepower, but it loses a lot of its speed.

Other mega+ were almost held back to hold him up. Examon, susanuoomon and even alphamon O all have 65 power all hits instead of 80(Alphamons is Magic lol but its single target is 110 to make up for it). Omnimon is kind of the all around best digimon in time stranger even better then Imperialdramon Paladin mode. The DLC leak showed that almost all his variants are making it in the game alter S/B, X, Merciful Mode) and I wouldn't be surprised if the OG ends up being better then all of them unless they really do make X or MM omnimon but better

Our War Game was the high point of Digimon for Bandai, and Omegamon is symbolic of that. They stumbled onto their Charizard. Kenji Watanabe didn't even like the design he did for Omegamon until he saw it in action in the movie, at which point he was like "I GET IT NOW".

It's hard to say if Omegamon was their "main" member. It's actually only recently when it started getting treated better. In Chronicle, it got its shit kicked in by DORUgoramon, and even after becoming Omegamon X, it was useless against Death-X-mon. In Digital Monster: X-Evolution, it was a faggot throughout most of the film until it got an epiphany near the end, where it was useless against Death-X-mon again. In Savers, it wasn't given any focus at all. And in Chronicle X, JESmon was the true main character, and basically stronger than all other Royal Knights combined.

Impmon could already evolve to Wizarmon. I like Lucemon X not only because of the design (I can just imagine Ryusei Nakao Frontier Lucemon voicing him), but because Lucemon was already insanely powerful. It's like the Golden Freeza effect, there's just this swagger as he becomes premium.

I don't see the need to power-up lower level Digimon through methods other than evolution, I think it seems like busywork, especially since the utility of the X-Antibody depends entirely on if the continuity actually utilizes it, but even then that's sticking us in another boring world with Yggdrasil and the Royal Knights.
