I didn’t really want there to be a good ending, I don’t think all games need to have one, but I think the game needed to actually take some time to make me invested in the characters or give me a chance to recognise why Jimmy did some of the shit he did. When you take out that reasoning, you’re just left with the results (ie. he did some bad stuff), so it’s kind of hard to give a shit whether he redeemed himself or not, and it’s hard for me to hate him because I can’t really care about the other 4 because I barely know anything about them.

Of all of the "dark/surreal" indie games that have garnered annoying cult followings, Mouthwash has got to be one of the least deserving ones based on merit and artistic value.

This the weirdest game I've seen that cultivates an annoying fandom despite the game being serious and touching on serious topics.

It's a good story well told, that doesn't overstay it's welcome. It was really nice to talk about during the first two weeks or so.

Only problem is that it got too popular so now we need to have *this* thread over and over again.

It's great wiring with a lot of layers and attention to detail. You play through again and see all the little things you missed the first time, and start piecing everything together, it just clicks. It's very symbolic and open to interpretation which leaves room for a lot of discussion.

Not to mention, it's one of the few, if only, games to effectively pull off modern PS1 style art design, and the sound and atmosphere are top notch.

Zoomers unironically got this one right. Although Jimmy never raped Anya, unless you mean by modern "had drunken sex and regretted it" standards, and if he did rape her then she deserved it.

the presentation was very good, including the buildup to the twist and the suspense of the first few minutes

the twist itself sucked mad dick and you can only be a redditor if you think 'le rape man bad' is in any way shocking or deep enough to be a twist by itself, because that's all the game is, the protagonism suffering from selective memory/ptsd because he raped some woman and crashed the ship killing everyone

the dream sequences sucked dick too. and the writing, been a while since i played but there are many instances of characters having knowledge of things they couldn't possibly know (fat guy instantly has an epiphany near the end and magically knows jimmy raped anya and crashed the ship and blamed the captain, causing him to chase jimmy with the axe in spite of having spoken to him like ten seconds earlier)

its just another case of zoomers/women ruining anything they touch. redditors think rape is unironically worse than murder and to them this plot is rich and dark and edgy. meanwhile non mentally ill people just see it was weak and nonsensical

You know, the game IS walking around slowly. You know what else it is? The most gripping story I've ever seen in a game. With the best put together themes and atmosphere of the whole medium. But it's challenging, that's why. No one cares about it because you need effort to play it, you need to engage with it on a deeper level.

I think the most annoying part of this walking simulator is its not even deep, scary, or well written. The whole refusing to take responsibility theme goes to cartoonish levels of nonsense that it basically hits you over the head with it just for zoomers and streamers talk about it for a week on twitch.

It's an art game anon, a good one. It's more about the story than the gameplay. The gameplay is sparse but there's enough for it to not just be a walking simulator. if you're looking for gameplay-heavy stuff obviously you'll hate it.

It should have leaned far more into the sparsely used point and click adventure aspects, it was a lot better than the other gameplay elements it had.
