Realtime catching, dodging as pokemon attack the player, alternative battle system, rewarding the player for catching more than they need for their team. How is that not what Legends was about before? Riding Pokémon and gyro aiming were not unique to Arceus, nor did the link cable item.

Everyone is talking about the graphics and the odd mechanical changes but I'm just surprised by how little sovl is in Legends ZA when compared to Arceus. ZA feels like a mod of some other weird action rpg game. It's baffling to go to some NPC standing outside of a random store and they just happen to have a bunch of mega stones and some fossils.

The NPCs are so fucking random, it's amateur hour. This doesn't even require that much more dev time, just give all the mega stones to the dedicated mega stone vendor that already exists. Why the fuck do nobodies all over the city sell them?

But I want games that have lower budgets and worse graphics...

Well, for one thing, you can complete PLA 100% as a single player game, just like how you could do pretty much every single other spinoff game. ZA on the other hand is locking trade evolutions behind multiplayer, and possibly some research tasks as well
There's also an heavy focus on PVP battling this time around, by actually locking an even item behind PVP matches.

It's LITERALLY just a mainline game but with only one city, dumbed down battle system with no abilities and extremely small dex. Even the dodge ability is useless for half of the game because it doesn't work on non wild battles

The game felt so incredibly shallow from every angle whether it was the way Lumiose looked to the NPCs that populated it and obviously the severely stripped down gameplay.

I can't imagine even its biggest proponents would come back to this game a year from now.
