Because you need a pretty decent rig just to generate a quality 5 second video. Making a whole game would require a literal supercomputer.

LLMs basically guess at what the thing you're requesting is supposed to be based on data it's been trained on, it's much easier to do that for pictures and videos than it is for all the code and assets that make up a game. Especially since if it makes a fuckup in a pic or video you might not notice it, but if it fucks up code it's just not gonna run.

Nobody in this thread understands what this so called ai is. It’s just a fancy google search, it’s looking at many results and predicting an average.
If you think you can just take an average of 5000 games code and run it and have a working game you are genuinely in the bottom 1% of the human iq range.
Even if you went highly specific, hi ai machine, please take these 5000 seperate versions of code for Tetris and combine them into one average code, it’s not going to work, you can’t average an entire games code.
Another example, take 5000 cars, break them down into components, count which component gets used the most across the 5000 cars for each part ie the most common seatbelt used. Now take the most common components and try to put it together into a working car, nothing will fit, some cars will have more components than others, one cars parts won’t fit with another etc.
This is an exact metaphor why ai can’t make games.

It technically could. You'd just have to piece together the code and assets it gives you (may run into issues with 3d games as I don't think big AIs can make models yet, but you could also have it use code to generate many interesting shapes and environments). It just isn't able to do the live put together shit you're likely thinking of. It probably won't be able to do that for a long time. But if you could set one of these AIs to work on its own and access files and programs and such on your computer, it likely could build you up a decent game in a couple hours. Then again, it'd come out really weird unless you prompted it the whole way, as the AI doesn't have a set of experiences and schema to use to build a world that'd make sense. You'd get something surreal and trippy, whether it is fun to play is up to chance as the AI also has no way to know what is fun outside of finding consensus on the Internet (which at this point it likely wouldn't think to look for on its own).
tldr: The main issue is that we haven't found a way to code a human level brain yet. Hopefully we'll get there soon.
