You learn how the monsters a 1000 times in 20 minutes eventually. Protip you want to heal or whatever while the monster is attacking not before. They can still aim at you when you try to do it early.

make sure you're sharpening your weapon when it gets dull and hitting weak points (big blood splash and heavier hitstop) to do more damage, ie hit the head instead of the legs
upgrade weapons whenever you get the opportunity, take some time to grind if a weapon or upgrade has a decent boost in stats

My biggest problem with World was all the unnecessary cutscene and story shit, indicative of a larger shift in a tone I don't like. World and Wilds go 2 steps forwards with some ideas and 2 steps back with others. The only thing I can say about Rise is eating balls and birds is the worst meal system in the series.

After you clear the gathering slop quests and pick up some kinos styles like valor hbg/ls/cb/hammer/gs/gl, aerial cb, alchemy hammer.

By my 3rd replay I just installed a cheat to instaclear any quest by pressing a button combo, made gathering quests become a breeze fuck it

I have been soloing the game up to g rank 2 and now I feel like I can't kill anything solo anymore, so I decided to stop my prog and start farming charms to make a new set. Am I imagining it or is it a lot harder to farm charms than in 4U and 3U? Enduring charms don't guarantee getting a good skill because the game has way too many junk mixed skills that I don't need, so most charms I get are all garbage. Also, what are some essential endgame skills for Switch Axe and Charge Blade?

Hyper monsters. In the original game there was no G-rank or High rank village (the airship) so Hyper monsters were like the challenge after High rank, if I'm remembering that right. There are also deviants but those are fucking impossible and I never understood the point of them.

Yes this is normal. My advice: gitgud. It's a lot less hits if you're hitting the weakspots consistently, and a lot faster if you're not getting hit as well.

I'll be honest with you anons, I started with Wilds. Been moving backwards from Rise, to World, and now GU. It's the best game out of the ones I've played. On G2 as of now.

The last hunts are fun ( Crimson Diablos, Nakarkos, Ahtal Ka, Alatreon and the Fatalis).
The rest are just the same monsters with flashy moves.

Gathering hall High Rank is fantasic. Whenever I replay MHGU, that's where the perfect MH experience is at. The guiding lands, the 4U G-rank.

GU is genuinely boring for the first 50 hours. You have to get to high rank and then get to rank 2 on most of the villager questlines for the unlocks and then its fun.

Then stops being fun again in G1 and fun again in G3+

This game has some of the WORST quests in the entire franchise. Hyper monsters are the biggest mixed bag of all time, usually leaning on utter shite for the solo player experience

The reason I hate GU is because of what they did to Charge Blade. Removing quick saed and the counter gp basically ruined everything fun about the weapon. I don't care about how it plays in other styles. if I can't play it the way it was in 4U with Guild style then I hate it. And they know they fucked up because they fixed this in later games and made the weapon literally focus around counter meachanics.

In Gen, I did several playthroughs where I switched between several weapons, but for MHXX, I ended up using only SnS, and got to G4 with it, even did some post-Ahtal Ka quests and farmed the Neset armor, but recently I decided to try out Valor GS since I was struggling a bit much with some of those endgame quests (Hypers, Fatalis, Alatreon, etc).

A few years ago we beat base rise then started on mhgu.
We got to grank and dabbled around a little then rise came out. I HAD LOW EXPECTATIONS BUT, FUCK.

3U was the only game where I played it often, and that was mostly due to Underwater Combat.

Lance was a lot of fun in World and pretty cool in Sunbreak. Strike lance is really 1 dimensional but kind of fun, you do need to really learn monster movesets and openings well just like with old gen GS, and also you need to be able to hit backstep i-frames for a lot of bullshit moves.
Adept Lance is a fucking blast in GU, I totally recommend that however.
Just pick a game and force yourself to play Lance until you either start to like it or drop it.

I haven't played XX but something about this game rubs me the wrong way. Or at least the endgame. But would FU's lack of endgame systems be better?
