Less autobattler shit. I understand that the game should have SOME tools to reduce grinding and rng gambling (cheat shop), but letting the game play itself is going too far. Going back to 2D is pretty obvious, the game's style is hurt pretty badly by 3D too. Attack animations just aren't as cool and it looks sterile. More generic classes, a chara world that isn't an absolute chore to play. This series could do a lot to evolve it's mechanics, but NIS focuses on superficial shit instead like most JP game devs

The repeated button presses are the gameplay. If you're not doing that, you're just choosing characters, stats and equipment. Grindan in Disgaea involves button execution to do quickly; Menu navigation, moving the characters into the exact same position each time, and doing that repeatedly to optimize your characters is a skill. Kind of like doing shoryukens in fighting games or speedrunning.
