>As a kid it was the POW rescue, fucker just died all the time for no reason.
Yeah, that is the mission. It was INFAMOUSLY bugged at the time of release. The POW is the aformentioned pilot. His A.I. is unbelivably wonky and in the 1.0 version, there was about 80% chance he'll stand beneath the landing evac chopper at the very end of the mission, causing it to get stuck and force a FULL RESTART, because there is a checkpoint that happens right as he gets there, and he can't be moved either.
The whole fucking thing takes like an hour, with him being liable to break at almost any point, but getting him through safe till essentially the end cutscene only to see him fuck up, several times in a row... that was fucking painful.
It got a lot better with the patches, but back then, I was still living on Dial-up and patches were a rare commodity.
>Havent played Vietcong 2 but I think people have the same sentiment with that too.
Its only value is to see just how many ways you can completely fuck up a once great game. One of biggest disappointments of my life.
That whole era was so fucking grim for Czech game development. Watching all these great studios: Altar, Pterodon, Illusion Softworks, even BIS getting fucked up by western publishers was heartbreaking.
Seeing SOME of that talent being recovered by companies like Warhorse is a bit uplifting though.
