japan has yet to realize overworked employees cannot do post-launch support.

It was never a live service game or meant to be one. You get 8 bosses with harder third phase forms and a shoddy "hard" ranked mode. It's a full package $40 game.

It's dead. No new content. Same map and same characters, only form of progression now is Deep of the Night mode which is just not fun above depth 3. It quite literally needs a massive DLC for a short term revival. I think Fromsoft is way better off just making a new game than keeping a live service.

So I still play, and the "endless Day of Night" mode initially kinda sucked, it's grown on me now but it's very punishing. You basically need to be a several hundred hour Soulsbourne autist and in need of a 45 minute gameplay loop where you might lose cause of shitters; perfect for me but admittedly niche.
DLC needs to happen FAST imo

I still play it and I enjoy it. It’s a very fun game once you get past the learning curve.

How many bosses do you think the DLC will have? Im guessing only 2 or 3 so they can move on from this game

There was a "leak", no idea how real it was. But I think it'll be 3 new bosses and the 4th will be super heolster and hopefully a full new map. The DLC is only like $15 though so maybe we shouldn't expect much

It's fine for what it is, which is a wacky experimental Elden Ring mod that's fun for a while. However losing a run at the final boss makes it feel frustrating when all you get is some shit-tier relics and youve already bought out the shop.
Since Nightreign came out I played about twice as much Base ER randomized than NR.

Im just carrying randoms through regular expeditions with my excellent raider build. I enjoy running by myself to get my build up on day one while shitters ping everywhere and seethe. I get rock hard like diamonds when someone quits day one and then steamroll the rest of the expedition.

The everdarks were alright and hard/deepofnight gave a little life

My friends and I still play it trying to get to DoN level 5. We're kind of stuck in depth 4.
I find it fun, but it desperately needs more randomization and yeah the DLC would be nice. If they add 2-3 more characters, 2-3 more night lords, and then more bosses at the end of nights/seeds I'd be pretty happy. Along with new weapons, relics, passives, spells, etc of course.

The game just needs more stuff. The best items are mostly already known. The DoN relics are theoretically a great way to make new builds bud realistically you need god roll relics to do that or you just double down on what the character does.

Mostly they haven't kept up the content drops for it.
There isn't a lot of economic incentive for FromSoft to do that, because the game was just meant to be an experimental title for the B team to learn the ropes.
But as a stand alone RNG reliant live service title, you'd expect things like more maps, more bosses, maybe proper infinite modes, new heroes, etc.
That isn't there.

So instead you have a game with the structure of a live service game, but with only enough content to last you the length of a standard Souls game.

Most people agree D3 is basically the best difficulty level for Depths. After that in D4 and 5 everything takes forever to kill, and tons of shit oneshots even if you're using some negation passives like full HP negation.
