Also, I don't know if it's a quirk of the english translation, but it's kind of inconsistent how the dialog treats you as him but you but human but not, etc.
For example, Junomon turns to you and talks about "you humans" right after a dialog following you asking if you look like Aegiomon to her.
It's a little odd to say the least.

Arm-mounted blades are inherently impractical, but ordinarily if you DID have to design a blade that way, you'd mount it horizontally. The Amplified design is a slight improvement, actually, though I still vastly prefer the original.

X is overly gaudy and complex, which is an issue I've always had with X-variants. Omegamon has a pretty simple and sleek design, while X has lines everywhere. Its eyes are way smaller, which I'm not really a big fan of. Overall, the entire design just feels a bit cold and oppressive.

I will say this though, it fits the Chronicle version of Omegamon perfectly. In Chronicle, Omegamon is a cold enforcer of Yggdrasil's will, lacking in either courage or friendship, someone who kills innocent Digimon just because it's told to. This design suits it.

Depends on the species. Most of them are, some aren't. What the X-Antibody does is draw out latent code in a Digimon's Digicore. For most Digimon, this is a straight up power up. For others, it causes mutations that alter the Digimon's abilities. For instance, WarGreymon X is faster than WarGreymon and more offense oriented, with parts of the Brave Shield incorporated into the Dramon Killers. However, its flight capabilities were neutered in exchange, and since the Dramon Killers have a smaller surface area that the Brave Shield, it also has inferior defenses overall. Even its armor, which once completely wrapped around its torso, now has noticeable gaps in it.

Other examples, like Goddramon X, don't really change much even with the X-Antibody. Goddramon already reached the peak of its potential by default, so all the X-Antibody does is change its design a bit and make its personality a little more aggressive.

Incidentally, the issue seems to be averted in other Digital Worlds because in those worlds, the Digital World isn't hosted on the Host Computers themselves. The Yggdrasil of Time Stranger, for example, appears to be a separate entity from the Digital World she governs. The Yggdrasil of Digimon Chronicle (and by extension X-Evolution) was the only one stupid enough to host the Digital World within itself from the start. Yggdrasil tried to cull the population because it was going to cause a server crash so he sent out a virus to kill everyone and some survived with the X antibody. They have to fight to steal others or they lose it over time. Eventually this lore didnt really matter. It barely did because right after it was introduced Frontier almost killed the franchise and it was dormant until 2018 for an anniversary.

I always had a theory that once a certain digimon comes to exists via natural causes, its data is copied and stored so that other digimon can evolve in to it without going through the same circumstances. This would explain things like OG MetalGreymon practically being a zombie while other MetalGreymon afterwards don't have to go through the same operations, allowing other Digimon to "prefect" evolutions.

With that in mind, I figure the Royal Knights aren't the original versions of themselves. RK Omegamon is not the chosen children's Omegamon, and so on.

Best Digimon game I've ever played. If you liked Cyber Sleuth, you will like this. This has you actually going to the digital world as opposed to just running up and down blue floor. I played at my own pace and did all the side quests and it took me about 60 hours to beat it or so. It was overall a great game, towards the end they do try to pad it out which sucks but if it annoys you enough you can at least speed up battles x5 and even auto battle. There's a dark castle area towards the end that I thought killed the pacing and enjoyment for me so I rushed through it.

Yeah, the D-Reaper was designed to wake up and cull the population of the Digital World once its data became too "dense," since it was originally a primitive anti-virus program. Ideas tend to get re-used a lot in the Digimon series. The Eaters from Cyber Sleuth are even more similar to the D-Reaper than the X Virus is.

From what I remember from the animu, the teenage humanoid is the "Human Spirit" form while the octopushag is the "Beast Spirit" form. The two forms can do a slide evolution, or mode change, freely. It was the same with the protags who were collecting the spirits and the antagonists. Personally, I prefer WarGreymon and BlackWarGreymon. BlitzGreymon's color balance always felt kinda bland. BlackWarGreymon has a very good balance of black, grey, red and yellow, each color strategically placed so that none overstay their welcome. Where do I start?
The game is pretty much unplayable without an emulator because of the slow ass animations and weird pauses before attacks. I play at 2x speed and it still feels slow.
The game makes you go through UI's like crazy. For example you can't pull out some Digimon from your team into the server if it's part of the Digichain. You need to go and select another Digimon first before you can remove it. Instead of just being able to evolve inside the domains you need to go to a NPC to digivolve your digimons.
If you buy items, they aren't added to your inventory even if you have space, they are added to the server so you have to remember to add them to your digi beetle inventory first.
The domains are pretty boring visually compared to the sceneries in World 1. They are full of traps, a lot of which are invisible and require you to memorize the repeating room layouts or just check every single tile before you run on it which takes a lot of time.
Upgrading your digi-beetle feels pretty good even if the bullshit never stops since they just add higher level traps that deal half your hp damage.
The combat and the arena is decent but the grind to level up your Digimons is crazy since they have a level cap that you can only rise by DNA digivolving 2 digimons together which resets their progress somewhat (2 champions make a rookie, 2 ultimates make a champion etc). It's cool though that you can get more abilities that way though since the child digimon will inherit all skills of it's parents even if a lot of the skills feel somewhat same-y.
The story is ok, I think it's a little bit better written than Digimon World 1.

Overall I wouldn't really recommend it even with Emulator, it just doesn't respect your time at all.

I would assume the POV scene of you seeing Mirei in the inbetween theater and watching the Agent Alpha anime opening is actually Dan/Kanan seeing Mirei, watching the anime opening and then suddenly waking up in the real world

So my understanding is that Homeostasis is probably mainly in charge human/Digimon relations. It's unrelated to the operations of any specific Digital World, but is mainly the one who deals with the "Chosen Children" phenomenon. Normally, Host Computers like Yggdrasil don't concern themselves with humans much, and more often than not they're even outright hostile towards human interference. So in stances like Digimon World where humans are zapped to the Digital World, that's probably Homeostasis' doing.

Time Stranger also seems have a massive focus on JP Superheroes
Aegiomon and his Aegiochusmon form's designs have some JP superhero aesthetics to it, not sure if it was intended during the initial design during the Digimon Crusader run, but they definitely took the JP superhero theme of Aegiomon and put in some focus on the JP hero aspect into Time Stranger.
Aegimon himself has a red scarf, which was common for oldschool JP heroes, his Aegiochusmon may be inspired by Kamen Rider and his multiple forms, including a dark form and a super form/mid season upgrade, Jupitermon himself doesn't have a JP superhero theme himself in my opinion besides his cape, but he does a super hero landing in Time Stranger, Wrath Mode in Time Stranger is literally Ultraman. it wouldn't surprise me, if they retroactively put a JP superhero theme on Aegiomon and his line, if it wasn't already intended during his Crusader debut
then there is Agent Alpha, the anime, which our player character is based off, a fictional JP superhero, including the red scarf. I think Agent Alpha is a homage to Cyborg 009?
the prelude, which featured Revolmon/Deputymon and Yuta, who is a massive Agent Alpha fan, has a big focus on superheroes. Yuta imagines Revolmon as Agent Alpha for a short time and later on Revolmon becoming Justimon, also it is implied, that in least in the TS continuity Aegiomon's egg is influenced by Yuta's image of a superhero, looking at his red scarf in his base designs and his different forms as an Perfect/Ultimate
long story short, Aegiomon is a Kamen Rider and Ultraman, Dan/Kanan Yuuki and Agent Alpha are Cyborg 009 and the Inori siblings are massive superhero nerds

world 2 is a really nice game with really big asterisks

essentially, it's a mystery dungeon/dungeon crawler hybrid with dragon quest monsters systems (an almost 1 to 1 rendition) with a digimon skin and the result is actually quite interesting.
What completely kills it is everything else, everything is very very slow, even just walking around on the hub base is painful, the menus are slow, combat takes forever,it is a 3v3 game, every mon attack has an animation that like 10 whole seconds to play, you see where this is going.
There's a really good game if you like this kind of dungeon crawling game but it is painful to play, you can play it on an emulator and speed it up, but then you might go insane from the sped up music and sounds.

Yeah. Lucifer is generally closely related to serpents due to being conflated with the snake of the Garden of Eden. So having Susanoomon defeat it does sort of make sense. Generally, Digimon are first released as cards at first, since it's easier to release new cards regularly than it is to release new games, shows or V-pets. It's very very rare that a Digimon will actually make its debut in the DRB. Usually how it goes is that a Digimon will debut in a game/v-pet/card/anime/manga, and then either at the same time or a couple weeks later it will have an entry added to the DRB. And sometimes they don't even. There are some Digimon that are decades old but haven't been added to the DRB yet.
The DRB has something like 1400 entries right now, but the actual number of Digimon that have ever existed is closer to something like 1600-1700 when you factor in all the old obscure ones.

A lot of Digimon probably aren't worth keeping around. For instance, many of the stuff from C'mon Digimon have probably been abandoned. Also, Izawa and Yabuno seem to own certain Digimon like UlforceV-dramon Future Mode, which means Bandai can't use it without their permission. There's also a handful of Digimon that plainly weren't designed to be used more than once, like Agumon Burst Mode.

A large chunk of unregistered Digimon are just random Digi-Xroses from Xros Wars. It's be pointless, redundant and a pain in the ass to catalogue all of them, so the majority have been abandoned.

The guys making games/anime/manga for digimon have a lot of free range on what you can do.
Unlike pokemon for example they can come up with their own oc digimon as backgrounds characters or bad guy of the week.
If I made a manga I could make anonmon a digimon as a joke villain for 1 chapter or whatever and I doubt anyone would bat an eye and anonmon would never be referenced outside of my manga.
The digimon reference book is basically central hub for universally used digimon across all media.
If anonmon got into the digimon referencebook then he would basically get recognized as a real digimon and could be used in anyother digimon media be it as a joke character or background npc.
Not sure how it works behind the scenes, but that seems to be how it works.
These mons got introduced in a manga and never got into the digimon reference book and therefore never got mentioned or appeared in anyother digimon product.
Callismon a digimon introduced in the same manga did get into the digimon reference book after 20 years and has since then appeared in the tcg webcomic and became a boss + recruitable digimon in time stranger.

In regards to V-Tamer, it's because its author is actually one of the original founders of Digimon, and his name is part of the portmanteau that is Akiyoshi Hongo. As far as I'm aware, he doesn't work for Bandai directly and he's not really part of the IP's general affairs anymore, but because he's one of the original creators of the franchise, he seems to have had a lot of power over his own work. To this day, UlforceV-dramon Future Mode has been off-limits because he and Yabuno own the copyright to it.

I think there, they just suffered more from the mess that is Time Sleuth's late game side quest avalanche. I think that between Slide Evolution and Mode Change, the two should have basically been the same mechanic under different names, and more spread out among a larger number of mons that fit the bill. Basically, the ability to change forms during battle shouldn't be as rare as it is. I don't think it should be COMMON, but there should be more of it since there are plenty of Digimon that fit.

Also, regarding certain Mode Changes like Burst Mode, they should function like Jogress as well. If a Digimon has the correct attributes, it should be able temporarily take on a higher form for specific attacks, just like Jogress.

Digimon world 3 already had a similiar concept.
Once a special meter filled up your mon would automatically evolve into its next form for a few turns.
So if you had greymon then it would temporarily evolve into metalgreymon before you unlocked metalgreymn

Yeah, as much as I like some of the new mechanics, the roster hamstrings them a bit. The whole in-battle Jogress mechanic really suffers from the fact that Mastemon is the only DNA Digivolution that can be made with two Ultimates, so for a huge chunk of the game you just aren't able to to do it.

I think the only instance of the RK Omegamon in Adventure was the big Agumon that became a greymon strong enough to stomp Parrotmon.
Of course it didn't show up in its final form just like Jesmon appears to the digidestined as Hackmon.
Adventure 2020 is a whole different can of worms though, where the partner Agumon and Gabumon probably are the actual RK.
