The reason people play Sekiro isn't really because of frantic, high octane combat, but more because the game offers actual 1v1 dueling, with your sword clashing against other swords, rather than mashing every enemy into a bloody pulp

I'm a huge fan of Tomonobu Itagaki (RIP) and love both the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series. I played Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black in high school, then tackled Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox 360. Later, I replayed and beat both games three times each on Xbox One X.
Ninja Gaiden 4 feels like a blend of Metal Gear Rising and Ninja Gaiden, but it’s not as challenging as either. It’s fun, but it doesn’t capture the true Ninja Gaiden essence--or 'soul' as retards and pajeets say.
If you’re brown and only played Ninja Gaiden Sigma, you might think it’s a masterpiece, but you’re just a human coil; you and your opinion are worthless. Kill yourself.
Overall, I’d rate it a solid 8/10. At least is better than Ninja Gayden 3 RE and Gayba Ninja Gayden.

I've had no interest in buying this game ever since that one rumor about Ryu only having one weapon came about. Once they confirmed that Ryu would indeed only have one weapon, and then were shameless enough to officially announce that his other weapons would be locked behind DLC again, just like vanilla NG3 (except they're not free this time), all before the game even came out, it proved to me that this game is just a cheap cashgrab, much like NG2 Black.

Everything I’ve heard about this game also just sounds awful. The fact that I've seen people posting 30-second-long combo clips tells me everything I need to know about it. It's a Ninja Gaiden game in name only. I’m simply not buying it. I won’t even pirate it. Maybe I’ll check it out in six years or so, but not now. I can just replay the first three games in the meantime. Modern Team Ninja and Platinum can both go fuck themselves. That is all.

Played the first two chapters on Xbox. Yes, I'm a shitter who plays on normal and also I'm old so I have some excuses. With that said my opinion so far is I like the combat a lot despite I have a hard time to get used to managing the various meters/ feedback and fuck the one who swapped the block. I ran into a few smaller issues with obliterating but otherwise the combat flows very well. I didn't play a game for a long time where I'm not just pushing ahead but actually enjoying exploring the possibilities. With that said my only real issue with the game so far is it doesn't feel like a Ninja Gaiden game outside the combat. They seem to stripped everything that "doesn't matter" from a gameplay perspective. It feels like a prime example of the mockery modern sequels tend to get. Main character replaced, menus and environments are sterile, a bunch of things simplified (see platforming) or needlessly complicated (talk to the raven to summon the guy and talk to the guy to buy a basic move then a loading screen to try the move... rest of the shit is in the shrine menu you need to access seperately and also two kinds of currency... feels like a chore).
Still the positives are there so I hope for the best.

I really dislike that A+X doesn't do wind run and home in on an enemy anymore, it was great for aiming your flying swallows or guillotine throws. Also hate that landing UT is an unlockable skills, why bother with progression??? And the entire blood whatever stance feels like a completely needless addition to try and complicate the combat, feels so pointless.

You unlock this but wind run, wind path and guillotene are all still in the game. On top of that you can redirect path and guillotene so you can do a midair combo and instead of izuna dropping you can mid air guillotene at enemies to stun before engaging with swallow or whatever else.
