They turned 50% of the enemies in chapter 4 into immortal NPC allies (who will kill the other 50% of enemies for you off screen) because insane nationalists were upset that Ming soldiers were enemies and could die.
A bunch of bosses who used to die when defeated now just stand upright and talk to you (in obviously AI generated dialog) about how much a cool guy they are and reaffirm their importance to Chinese culture, then you have to go weird steps to get their weapon/armour that used to just drip on floor when they died. This dialog also isn’t even lip synced and their models barely animate.
This also massively changed the story and now it makes no sense. Whole game had recurring theme of bringing back the dead doesn’t work and just creates monsters. Originally the Ming soldiers resurrected the emporer and he is a giant monster, who you kill and lay his human body to rest (even pre censorship they were very careful with how they portrayed him) but post-patch he just turns into a fully alive human with no problems and gets to live happily every after with his consort.
Whole game is about “don’t use magic to resurrect the dead” unless it’s the emporer, it just works perfectly for him and him alone.
