I can't get over how much this short scene was downgraded in the remake

The remake looks so bad

Yes it is when modern graphics are able to replicate the pre rendered in that shot, but most of all it's a fair comparison when the remake isn't even able to get basic human proportions correct

not really, it evoked parts of the original story that stayed really hidden, but mostly those things where for real fans who have played original trough over 30 times

Anon real time 2024 can do better than pre-rendered 2001. There's no excuse.

No, REALLY.
There's not a single element that was not raped in the DEI-make. It's literally just another rehash of SH Homecoming, with TLOU elements because "muh modern audiences", UE5 jank, woke shit agendas resulting censorship, and terrible pacing and gameplay.

Even this basic shot is off. Like film 101 is rule of thirds and knowing how to use it. Squeezing the character into one third of the frame in a pose that is opposite to the third they occupy creates a basic visual sense that something is "off" which is exacerbated by the dialogue asking you if she looks like something familiar. You don't need to be Steven Spielberg to understand this. In the remake they just plop her in the middle acting like an NPC and call it a day

It's a pattern in these remakes that they can't into cutscenes. RE4R is the exact same way, just butchers the visual direction and style of the OG

what act of god was keeping the developers from using pre-rendered

I'd argue that the "cutscenes" are some of the LEAST significant issues in this demake, and the others like it from the past 6 years. The gameplay, pacing, and in-game cinematography have all taken a similar nose dive.

SH2R is literally an almost 1:1 copy of the 2008's SH:Homecoming, one of the most hated games in the series, that also was an early example of what would soon become to be known as the "Soulsborne-lite" gameplay, with heavy focus on dodge-heavy combat.

RE4R on the other hand made everything feel sluggish and clunky, removed the stationary, wobbly aiming and reloading that required base-level tactical thinking, and generally censored the fuck out of all the fun characters.

The thing that baffles me most about RE4R is how they took parrying as a mechanic and made it feel sluggish. Like how is that even possible lol?

I was thinking about Homecoming when playing it. It has been over 10 years at least since I played it, but I know it had more going on combat wise than the remake. You could actually change melee weapons for one, even if the dagger 3 stab was the answer in 90% of situations.

Like I don't think its the worst game probably 6/10 territory really but you could definitely tell it was a low budget affair even on Xbox 360. And the story was retarded. But I was deep into the Silent Hill community at the time and people didn't like it. But they love 2make. And the only thing I can think of the separates the two is a "glossier presentation".

>Original Salazar was a subversion of the "true believer" cult leader archetype, he was just a conman with delusions of grandeur
>NuSalazar is literally just a cult leader played 100% straight

The direction of the remake cutscene is better.
James is looking across the lake where the hotel is and trying to remember the last place he saw Mary.
While Maria is trying to distract him from that and bring his focus back to her/the town.
A siren on the water.

The only thing I dislike about the remake version is the music changes. It's a bit too whimsical now I think.

The worst part about RE4 Remake is the codec call removals honestly. There are so many good interactions between Leon and Salazar/Saddler.
They replaced it with some speakers for Salazar to speak through so Leon can't retort at all and it just ruins the atmosphere and I just wish they'd come home.

Shut up faggot. ONE guy made the above cgi. Showed more of that character than Blubber ever could in just one cutscene.
