Media like this attempts to reveal the deeper personality and subconscious which exists in us all. It fails here for a Western audience (and maybe Japanese too) because the archetype of the Whore is not alienated or suppressed in modern Western women, it has for decades become Ego, a mask which hides an inner desire for motherhood and nurture by the masculine. Modern Western women use whoredom as a shield, inside they are afraid to be a mother and to love a man vulnerably, and this fear creates psychic blocks and 'mental issues'. If Silent Hill f were truly an exploration of the esoteric Feminine, appropriate to its time, it would explore the inner desire of a disagreeable modern woman to be a wife and a mother, her alienation from this manifested in terrifying figures of the tyrannical Masculine, the abused or neglected wife dying in childbirth and so on, culminating in a surrender and reconciliation, like James found in his good ending. The 'good girl wanting to be bad' is overdone and inappropriate for a modern audience.
