Even the weakest classic MM is a good game. That said, most of 7 is fine, especially if you like hunting for secret shit. But the level designs do generally feel simpler since everything is so fuckhueg on screen and Wily Capsule 7 is just an unfun slog of a boss even if you know what you're doing.

Is there an actual argument over that? Metal Blades are more fun anyway you slice it.

Charge's effective range is the same as the regular buster + some thickness, is the only shot your allowed onscreen if it's out, and has long wind up to be usable.
Metal Blades are weaker damage-wise, but you get three on screen at once. You can aim them and fire as quick as you can press the button, but they force you to be still on the ground, so you have to jump and aim more precisely to fully keep a flow going.
Anonymous No.723885158 [Report] >>723885293
>>723884283
The problem with 5 is balance, or rather a complete lack of it. Everything hits hard but nothing has any real attack patterns, and the charge shot genuinely is so overtuned that there's no reason to use anything else. 5's development was basically "we did everything we wanted with 4, so just jack the damage output up on everything and call it a day".

The problem I have with any game after 3 is that they came out after the SNES had released. Now, I'm not saying they're bad, but they were no longer the cutting edge of video game technology like 1-3 were. You could feel the NES cheapness on 4-6, like why the fuck are games still being made for this console? Just make them on the SNES.

Late NES games are the opposite of "cheap." Like, no shit, you're not going to magically stuff a SNES game into one, but all the improved chips and dev experience let them stand miles above early Famicom titles, and easily punch above their weight class. SMB3 vs SMW is hotly debated for a reason.

I respect it. What else would be the best? one of the 6 nes games that are all the same except some are total dogshit like 1 or incredibly overrated like 2? In the end, it's not such a big deal in such a series where there's hardly any innovation at all between entries. As long as you don't pick 1, 2 or 8 it's all the same to me. I guess 5 and 6 are also forgettable and unremarkable as fuck.

3 is pretty buggy, but I really think that's when they hit their stride in terms of game experience. You fight top tier robot masters, and then fight every boss form the last game. That's a fucking flex we wouldn't see again until Monster Hunter Dos.

Megaman feels sluggish. Feels like he barley crosses pits with his pathetic jump. Weapons are alright but the balance is pretty bad. Flash bomb will be equipped for 90% of the game. I do like how you can equip a weapon and still use the megabuster, kinda wish that returned fora later entry. Rush abilites suck, the healing one is the only real good one and it kinda just scatters random healing shit about though more often than not gives enough to fully heal you. OST also doesn't feel like megaman music. It has a nice vibe but doesn't suit an action platformer well. I do quiet like the ost regardless. It's not bad (imo there are no bad classic numbered megaman games) but its the weakest

when it comes to the gameboy games 5 is the best one, you can tell the devs really learned how to make a megaman game at that point. Original robot masters and new weapons are really cool. For every one good idea it had, it had two bad ideas that dragged the experience down. Also, while Classic Megaman was always the more lighthearted series, the aesthetics and music in 8 are downright soft and mild.

And of course, pic related. Because nothing fits better in a moderately paced platforming shooter like twitch reactions and making all your special weapons useless. It's a shame, because their counterpart Rush Jet SHMUP sections are actually pretty fun. They felt like a creative expansion on Mega Man's core gameplay loop instead of throwing it all out for proto quicktime events.

Best? No, but I do like it just not as a megaman soundtrack.
>cool graphics
Yes
>anime cutscenes and funny voice acting
As much joy as dr wahwee has given me I kinda wish the legacy collection had a "redubed" version (as an option) where its more professionally done because they are well animated. At least as far as ps1 fmvs go
>chill gameplay
that is until...
>fun level gimmicks like snowboarding and shmups
wily stage 1 is anything but chill or fun
>cute Roll in the shop
True
>good weapon selection with cool Rush cycle
Rush cycle sucks, bomb raid is kinda cool just to see shit get nuked.

Megaman 8 is def a low tier megaman but its not bad.

Yeah the story goes, at least for Top Man's stage, the entire level got finished only for one of the other devs to trip over a cable and ended up wiping out at least a week of progress.
Keep in mind this was during the NES era where games were typically developed in around 3-8 months. A week of devtime is like an eternity.

tracks made special for MM8BDM are in their Youtube playlists
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHRUdGcM9DsgOcYntorDQp6XL0fpY8x9u
most of the demade tracks for stage themes are borrowed from other creators and aren't gathered anywhere

i think most people who want them just pick them out from the pk3 (you open it in some kind of Doom editor)
