Got the controller a while back and it's pretty good, the sticks need to be re calibrated with the built-in re calibration but other than that it's neato. D-Pad actually feels nice which is a rarity in modern controllers, probably better than an actual Saturn pad for Cotton 2.

I heard the standard version has more input lag, is that true? The pro feels really snappy on my NS2 and Deck, but other than that it doesn't really have anything over the standard version besides meme rumble.

Literally using 6 buttons for fighting games was never that great. You're better off using the usual pad layout but putting shortcuts on the extra buttons.

>>723888956
>2 joysticks in a symmetrical layout
There aren't that many games where you control 2 characters and any game where one analog stick is a throttle would be better with an actual throttle.
You don't need 2 analog sticks and even if you wanted them, the second analog stick doesn't need to be full-size to fulfill its function.
>Non-shit D-pad
D-pads are almost entirely personal preference and are one of the cheapest and most neglected parts of the controller. You're statistically never getting a good d-pad on a good controller unless you gaslight yourself into thinking that it's good.
>>723889252
Back buttons are a meme for handheld controllers that are trying to do more than they're really capable of without abandoning the surface level appearance of an Xbox or Dualshock controller that the marketing loves so much. More face buttons help in a game designed for having fun.

sony's approach is almost a step in the right direction, but the dpad is still one whole slab underneath the faceplate, and it's not uniform with the face buttons anyway
they could have easily just done it right from the beginning, but for some reason they were too cowardly to go through with it despite being de facto market leader and thus the one in the best position to make this change for the betterment of gamemanity, and for this fault that they bear, i will always hate them

Honestly it has a lot of great features. Gyro, back paddle buttons, surprisingly intuitive ergonomics, track pads have niche utility over sticks, triggers are awesome, haptics are awesome, programmable controls through Steam to run kb+m only games or fully customize to your liking. One and only gripe is that it needs a 2nd stick, I dont think the track pad can fully replace one. I wish there was actually a reason to use controllers over kb+m outside of fighting games so I could actually get some use out of mine, I got it full price on release and it's sadly mostly collected dust.

I guess it's because ps3 already had gyro (I think) before wii waggle really took off and stained public perception of gyro for the next decade+, so they were able to fly under the radar with it. Meanwhile, xbox didn't have gyro and adding it in would basically be brand suicide.

It launched at $50 and even with tariffs is usually listed at $40 these days
but yeah, the only real flaws are higher stick latency on 2.4ghz (wired and Bluetooth are fine) and only 2 extra buttons, doubling the budget still just gets you sidegrades with different tradeoffs

So what's a good third party controller for PS5 that doesn't require me getting a Brook?

doesn't exist
the "good" 3rd parties with that criteria are just $200-300 modded Dualsenses

I hate first party chicanery of enforced exclusive connection protocols so that third parties don't "cheat" and they can price gouge consumers into their overpriced bullshit. Really just gonna have to get a Brook converter and a wireless controller just for their retarded bullshit, because I don't want to wear down the Dualsense on the family PS5 to shit.

reminder that if the controller doesn't support rechargeable double aa's then it's ewaste, that leaves us with the xbox series controller and 8bitdo pro 2
reminder that if the controller doesn't have a chatpad then it's shit for pc use, that leaves us with the xbox series controller

Wait for Vader if you want more buttons
I'd imagine Rainbow will be similar or better in other categories

What would be the point of a Deck anything if it's not a handheld? It would just be a cheap/weak/bad compact gaming PC

nothing's e-waste if you have a soldering iron.

I only use wired though so I don't have this problem.
