Pokemon is an outlier IP. There is no trying to understand it. it is literally too big to fail. You could actually kill a franchise like Zelda with shit games. Nothing can kill Pokemon. They've been making bad games since Gen 5. The designs have fallen off a cliff. People don't even give a shit about the individual Pokes. All of them are forgotten within a week. Remember that Trumpy Pokemon from Gen 7? Who ever mentions that guy? or that sheep from Gen 8? None of them have staying power but it doesn't matter because Pokemon is too big to fail.
