I made a Kuzuhamon for the field guide intending to change her out later. She's got a crazy stat line. Reversed she resists dark and virus while hitting them effectively. Not reversed she does a lot of work against like half the Royal Knights. Her damage was much better than expected due to the extra crit value and removing debuffs from herself came up way more often than I thought.

Stats dont matter because Mega+ doesnt let you start from a fresh save and instead of actually adding different digimon to certain areas or change their behaviour or add exclusive encounters to the mode, they just maxout the enemy stats which forces you to do the same. Turning the setting into a game of who is quick enought to get the first turn and one shot the other party.

Being able to max all stats, give any mons any skill and any ability makes them all feel way less unique.
Smt 4 had a similiar issue where all demons started blending together, because there was nothing to differentiate them from eachother.

Evolution trees were more limited, but it made scanning new mons way more exciting since you could get a completely new mon that wasn't available before.

I do not prefer to make digimon worse. What I'm saying is that I value uniqueness, and if push comes to shove I value it more than I value equalized stat lines across all forms. I would like the game to solve my desire for uniqueness in a way that doesn't make it harder to run any particular digimon on your team, but if that's impossible then I think it's worth the sacrifice.
I think the models are good differentiator, but as I've stated previously, this is a game and I don't think things truly register as different unless they are mechanically different. Gameplay is the strongest influence on games.
Unique moves are a good step towards that. They have two drawbacks. First, is that in TS they largely just aren't that unique. "Do this color damage" "Do that color damage" "Do this damage, but to everybody this time" It's pretty samey for the most part. Second, these unique moves don't carry over in any way. They are unique to the form, but not to the individual team member, and so, again, the particular digimon in your roster just sort of start to blur

Actually the game is fine as it is, problem is that, outside some Bosses and Arena encounters, you wont make much use of the base mechanics.
For most part of the game, its the iddle Regen and Digiattack what pretty much lets you no brain x5 farm in the overworld. Without those you would think twice before making a move. Farming would be more tedious? Yes, but they could easely lower the numbers of farming required so it can reach a balance with engagement.

there's a bunch of hiroko ghosts around the digital world that you have to interact with, both on past and present. if you mark the quest it tells you what areas they are in form the theatre warp but not their exact location. it's one of the few filler sidequests so you can just skip it. if the autism prevents you, like in my case, just look up the guide on game8.

nah, probably more like 6-10 unique items. not unique in the sense of one per digimon, unique as in there's only one copy of it in the game. so you attach, for example, the red aegiomon thing to somebody and they're permanently a crit-focused dealer. so now they are a unique member of your roster in that sense. you have reason to treat them differently from any other given digimon in your box. it sets them apart, makes training them in specific ways make more sense, aligns them with particular digivolutions more optimally. it doesn't make anyone less viable, but it still makes party members more unique

I mean this entire game is built on 3v3 so that's literally just a design flaw. Now you could say it's weak because you encounter it after an actual fight, Crimson, and the devs were generous enough to consider that you may be weakened but the path to ChaosLord is literally impossible unless you come prepared with heal for your digi beetle so even that doesn't work.
