Because Age of Calamity was their best selling game and if they make a good game they will get the license to make a musou for future Nintendo games.

They got permission to work on Pokemon too
Zelda will make more money than any other game they got this year, hell this is basically the DW anniversary game

Nintendo fans will just buy up anything if it's first-party. Nintendo knows this. If it has Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, etc. in the name then it'll make money. That Pokepia game looks like shit, but since it's LE POKEYMAN it'll sell like hotcakes.

That's actually really easy to explain, because Age of Calamity sold 3 million units within it's first 4 days on sale, and lifetime sales of 4 million since 2022, by comparison the top selling Dynasty Warriors game is Dynasty Warriors 3 with around 2.29 million units sold.
That's only the half of it, Koei Tecmo aren't paying to develop this game, Nintendo are, so KT assume none of risk involved in developing this game, effectively it's just free development time for their own staff as they figure out how to work well as a team, but it gets even better, KT are publishing Hyrule Warriors in Japan, so day 1 sales wise KT are making profits from every Japanese unit sold.

They said it would come out in Winter and didn't even confirm 2025 so I was expecting January or February, but it ended up releasing way earlier, it's not even going to be Winter for another month and a half.
