I dont mind the corniness - I dislike that Zag is the big bringer of change for the ending and Melinoe feels a bit robbed of a happy life - Chronos and Zag have memories of a big happy family, and Melinoe just hangs out with her family for a while until going back to status quo at the crossroads. It doesn't feel like she got a big payoff after spending her entire life training to save them.
I especially hate Zag's dialogue in the colosseum of "oh I've already known you for years, so I don't need any interaction with you outside here!". That feels like a big missed opportunity. Maybe I'd like it a little more if Melinoe also got those memories.

It's mostly a gameplay contrivance let's be real here. The argument that somehow Zagreus having a cutscene at the end speaking with Chronos diminishes Melinoe is ridiculous. There is also noting wrong with a female lead seeking the help of her big brother, which btw is yet another proof that it's not woke.
I feel like they choose for her to not have the memory specifically is to not undo Mel's life/struggle

Turns out the health bar is always hidden (for no fucking reason), and I was in the last phase already. Fug... That said, when I was looking at the wiki, I spoiled for myself his Rival mechanics, and WTF? TWO bosses at once? Zag was a miles better protag btw. Melinoe is like cardboard. Even the few interactions you have with him in 2 he outshines his sister. The real wokeness is that they know Zag is better and that 95% of people prefer him but they didnt add a mode where you could play him anyway.

I know that the characters aren't ugly on purpose and the story is apparently not garbage but it doesn't matter. When they decided to adapt a mediterranean culture and raceswap it, they've shown their true colors. I will never praise or support any media that ridicules europeans and enforces a double standard that raceswaps are not ok but only in one direction.

Hades 2 has some of the ugliest character designs I've ever seen in a high profile game like this. They absolutely did make them ugly intentionally. You only need to look at the characters who do look good like Mel to see that they clearly can make good looking characters if they want to. Them being fuck ugly is an intentional design choice.

There's a caveat here. If the studio themselves were african, and this game was made in africa, or the studio itself was comprised and created by african-americans, I don't think anyone would care, since we often used to do the same for other cultures, making them look white, and japan did similar in their games, and noone minded. But the issue is that it's very obviously self-hating cali style white liberals with a savior complex, and it leaves a rotten taste to the entire project when you know its based in hatred and animosity for their own cultures and history/race/people, and a desire to supplant it as a sign of virtue.
