I hate reflections. I want my games to be more readable. Reflections make everything far too busy. Its why every game has to have a quest compass, glowing pickups, a minimap, and yellow paint all at the same time now. But I feel like the raytracing issue is a moot argument because fidelity/resolution has plateaued to the point that they should stop trying to increase polygon count with massive diminishing returns, and most of the increased processing power from this point on should focus on ray tracing/frames per second.

This should be the last gen where this is an argument, and it should just be a given to have ray tracing from this point out.

A 5080 is much better than a 2080, a Ryzen 9 is better than a Ryzen 5, 1TB RAM is better than 16GB, but if all you're playing is indies and retro games you won't get anything out of it. You don't actually need raytracing in order to get realistic/good looking games. Raytracing is just the easy solution for developers with the tech doing all the work for them. You got old titles like FEAR which still look great because the developers paid attention to detail and placed all the lightsources/maps/shadows perfectly.
Meanwhile the moddern pinkhairs and jeets want you to buy a 2000 USD GPU so that GPU can do the work for them.
This is not adding value to games - you are paying extra so lazy/incompetent developers can pick the easy route.
