sounds like dark souls 1 and the age of dark. its literally identical to dark souls 1. in dark souls 2 you also wander around and have characters whispering in your ear what you should or should not do with their own motivations. if anything its more nihilistic as aldia basically blackpills you that nothing fucking matters ever and that the flame always comes back.

dark souls 1 remaster has more online players obviously and there's very few people who still play prepare to die edition but content-wise im pretty sure the games are exactly the same, except for like one extra bonfire in the remaster and some minor QoL

I think DS2 is pretty good but its fanbase is fucking insufferable and mentally ill. Just look at some of the posts on DS2 threads, the one thread the other day legitimately had some of the most schizo posts I've seen on /v/ in a while and that's saying something. Not even tendies are this bad.

Indian here, it's one of my favourite titles in the fromsoft franchise and dark souls series.
