Been pretty consistent with RDA since the old version without Centurion is at full power. Still have to deal with the caveats of having Red Rising be the decks one big chokepoint and it's worth it to put in Harpies to deal with the large amounts of people playing the Shining Sarc loaner.

I've only played for a year and I can already tell how inflated the ingame economy has gotten in a year. Your bundle comparison is spot on. And remember that on february we had the anniversary and the two bundles were 3600 gems for a field, a trillion cosmetics and 30 packs with 3 UR guaranteed, and 1200 gems for a mate with 10 packs 1 SR guaranteed. I'm 100% sure next year's anniversary is going to be more greedy and we're going to be spending 3800 gems for less and 1400 gems for the same or some shit like that.

Regarding cards, one of my first decks I built was white forest when it released (december 2024). In engine the deck used exactly 6 URs. 3 silvy, 1 astellar, 1 diabell, 1 tales of the white forest. That's it. You could play more if you wanted but that's all you actually needed. The rest were SRs and whatnot.
Then the deck got a bit more expensive with the azamina cards that came along the way. And of course before the azamina cards you had to play engines alongside it for it to work properly (as is the case with every single deck mind you) but you get the idea.
Let's compare this to the ryzeal, maliss and mitsurugi in engine URs.
>Ryzeal: 12 UR (8 main deck names, 4 of the xyzs)
>Maliss: Originally roughly 12 UR (about 8 main deck names, 3 field spell, 1 link)

Not true. So many black duelists (in my locals at least) are usually Blue-Eyes or Dark Magician players. The ones playing DM usually quit after month of losing in locals while the Blue-Eyes duelists sticks around and moves onto really niche decks, but never any meta decks unless it's like yesteryear's meta. The only duelists I know that's playing Hero or Yubel are White, but they're usually playing full on stun or full on combo. Never anything in-between. Asians are always playing whatever is new and meta. And Spics are waifufags playing at the bottom tables.

Mermaid is not legal in the event, so there's that. The thing with Mermaid is that she gives you access to Orcust Knightmare who in turn foolishes Harp Horror to continue your combo with Girsu. What I learned is that if you only open with Girsu or Harp Horror and they get negated, Galatea-i's only next play is searching World Crown and you completely miss on having access to the rest of the Orcust monsters.

Not complaining about the deck, it's honestly pretty fun and it's very refreshing playing a Link deck that's not another flavor of long combos for once, but too many times I bricked and this event was filled to the brim with handtraps of all kinds.

Ah, I wasn't even aware. I removed her from my regular deck a couple days before the event because I did not find many use cases for her so I did not notice.

I'm well aware, thing is there's a chance you're already DARK locked at that point so even if you could somehow go into Unicorn, you still can't make Mermaid because she's WATER. I did manage a miraculous recovery in one of them after three handtraps by going into Lib with Galatea-i and World Crown, then searching succession to revive Scrap Recycler and send Knightmare. Unfortunately I disconnected right then so it was for naught but it felt cool as shit.

Dingirsu is a generic RANK 8, one of the easiest RANKs to summon, that has a "send any card to GY" effect that doesn't target, it is a really strong removal option.

You're also missing part of the combo. After you use Mermaid to summon Orcust Knightmare, you use her to summon Galatea-i which both allows you to search a card with Galatea-i and foolish Harp Horror to the GY with Orcust Knightmare. You also summon Dingirsu during Turn 1 so you can dump it to the GY and have it ready to be summoned back during your opponent's turn using Cymbal Skeleton.

With paper, you have other considerations like travel and accomodation to go to your tournaments. And, you know, the hundreds of actual money that decsk cost.

It's free. It's convenient. You play it every day. You play it on the shitter. And it's FTP-friendly.

If your deck has no monster effects in hand, GY, and banish, and can run a Dominus trap then it's essentially an Imperm that if used after an Imperm/Dominus searches you a free Dominus trap. That's really damn good. The main fear is that it's a hand trap that's dead when drawn off of Maxx C, but that means that you resolved Maxx C so it's hard to complain.
And its restriction only applies if used from the hand, so you can even consider running it as like a searchable 1 of in Furniture Lab with the plan to use it as a powerful non-hand trap trap with the option to use it from hand if you need to.

The irony is that I feel this only really hurts new players. I've been playing since 2023 and despite making a lot of new meta and rogue decks I've never had trouble affording new decks just because you generally build up UR dust stockpiles over time, even with the new UR inflation. But if you're new, trying to build a meta deck with the appropriate staples can be 30 URs. Take this pure Ryzeal list for instance. No supplementary engines, just Ryzeal and hand traps. There are 34 URs you have to craft. This only goes down to 22 if you get lucky and pull every single Ryzeal UR you need. Now, granted, a lot of these are staples, and you can get 4 URs from bundle deals, and you'd want to craft them eventually but it's still a huge barrier to getting even a tier 2 deck. Compare this with a meta deck at launch like Lyrilusc Tri-Brigade, where you could build a reasonable version of the deck with maybe 15 URs total. And again, a lot of those URs are staples you'll play in other decks like Ash, Apo, Zeus, Called By, etc.

For an experienced player or someone who buys a lot of gems to build every deck, a new deck being 8-10 URs is nothing. Because half the deck is just going to be staples you already have. But for a new player the true cost of a meta deck is triple that, at least at first.

B.E.S. is so unpopular that it would make no sense giving it more than two URs and the only reason you would roll for Nouvelles is if they rerun the previous URs because the deck is way more expensive than it should be.

Its goal is to give the opponent a giant monster that nukes their field when it hits the GY and hoping that the opponent links it off at a bad time for them or that you can use their superpoly trap to fuse it off at the right time. That's about it, and you will rarely be able to pull it off.
The deck is really really bad, so they are probably cheap.

Just remember that Tuesday's pack is a mid-month pack. There will be another, likely much better pack 10 days after that.
