Who is the best party member in XC1? My guess is Melia

Reyn has the highest DPS with shit like Sword Drive, while Shulk has unmatched utility with all the Monado arts. I think the best team overall for damage is Reyn/Shulk/Dunban.
I do like playing as Melia though.

2 is fucking miserable to play, the amount of filler and le random anime tone-shift shit is excessive, the villains' actions and motivations make no sense, there's zero quality of life to the gameplay and half the characters have Dr. Seuss squirrelface, the only good things about it are some of the blade designs and the start and end of the story.
3 is immediately more in-line with the tone of the franchise prior to 2 (1, FD, X and even Torna), the story is generally shorter because it doesn't meander around with random sidequests like 2, it's also very streamlined and only has small, negligible gameplay niggles, the designs are much more pleasant and there's way more artistic cohesion, really my only complaint about it is that the ending feels rushed and it makes it hard to understand what Moebius even is without playing Future Redeemed.

No, unlike with 2's pointless world tour from Gormott to Indol, everything in 3 either comes into play in the endgame or develops the characters, there's no random artificial blade factory that is the only reason to even go to Mor Ardain that doesn't even fucking matter because Indol one-shots all that shit in a cutscene, hell, half the time there isn't even a reason to go to places like Uraya or Leftheria other than "Oh noo we got eaten by the titan by sheer coincidence in time for Malos to kill Vandham!" or "Ohh, it's better if we cross this titan rather than just sail around it!"

Sure, if you disregard Lanz' entire thing with Joran's death as well as his and Sena's inadequacy storyline that ends in a suicide attempt, Eunie's repressed memories of her past lives that echo Ashera's neck pains and how they paralyze her when D appears, and Taion's shame and guilt over Nimue's death that caused him to become distrustful and by-the-book, even Riku, implied as it is, is carrying out Melia's orders from thousands of years prior, the only character with nothing going on is Manana.
And that is not to say 2's characters don't have roles in their story, but they're much more situational, Morag and Zeke are essentially just there because they're ordered by their higher ups to be there, Tora is the regulation party Nopon but he feels particularly pointless given the whole artificial blade storyline has zero pay-off (3 gives Poppi more relevance than 2 ever did) Brighid and Pandoria are just exposition for Mythra's past and blade-eaters respectively and really just the entire blade posse is just there as space occupiers by mere design, since they're part of a lottery system they can't be part of the main plot.

Noctilum is probably my overall favorite location in any Xeno Game.
It made me love jungle environments in vidya because of all the environment diversity they can have.
I always loved the area with the little blood-red lakes with the crocodile enemies in the opening part of the jungle, it always struck me as something pretty comfy to sit down beside.

I played XC1 in 2022 and played XC2 last year around this time, and I will begin XC3 soon. I thought XC was good but Xeno 2 really shocked me with how great it was because when I tried playing it years ago like in 2018, I dropped it because I thought it was too childish and boring. Jin and Malos are some of the most compelling JRPG villains because they were nemesis turned genuine allies and friends, one went against his designed fate in the cycle of life to shatter it, and the other was a slave to what he thought was his sole purpose and self but held the power to fullfil his 'function' in the world. The tragedy is that Jin was the only one who could stop Malos, but he dies soon after he realizes this, and so Malos dies a pointless death motivated by his promises to a friend, only understanding that his 'self' wasn't defined by being awakened by Amalthus and he could be more than the destroyer of worlds, in the last few seconds of his life.
