Probably not that hard but they know that people won't play it without the live service hooks. It's arguably worse for them put out a good multiplayer game that satisfies a small player pop than to not do it at all.

Halo Infinite multiplayer is free-to-play and filled with microtrannies, so it's unlikely that MS will ever go back to paid Halo multiplayer again
Expect to see some variant of Halo Infinite multiplayer on PS5 by the end of next year shortly after the CE campaign remake launches. My guess is a full reboot of Halo Infinite multiplayer complete with a rebranding under a different name but still the same game underneath.

It has 2 player local co-op and 4 player online co-op. But true it doesn't have PVP multiplayer.
I think its simply because running servers that connect dozens of players together in upwards of a hundred thousand sessions simultaneously is too expensive given how much that shit costs nowadays compared to back in the day.

I dont really care about this but infinite on PS5 would be nice

Microsoft literally own their own shit it costs them nothing. Compute and bandwidth are comparatively incredibly cheap now compared to back in the day, which is why console subscriptions are an absolute rip off.
