nuFun is when someone convinces themselves that what they're experiencing is fun, when it's just convincing engagement. Pokemon games are known for this because they are structured with staple routines. I notice that a lot of people playing Legends Z-A are saying things like it's the best Pokemon experience they've had in 10 years due to the battle system, because moving around is far more engaging. But here's the important thing to recognize, moving around in the battles is pointless it doesn't do anything, and the new engaging combat they are praising is MMORPG combat, with the cooldowns and such, and all you do in Legends Z-A is you wait for your moves to leave cooldown and just use whatever isn't currently cooling down. Unironically this is textbook nuFun.

I've been a huge Pokemon fan for years but I don't think I even want to emulate Z-A. I did that for PLA and even enjoyed SV too to an extent. I like turn-based battles and different areas. I might do it but I don't know it really doesn't interest me currently.

It's all correct though. Johturd is poorly designed dogshit and Crystal is easily gamefreak’s laziest singular release. Fixed fuckall flaws from the original GoySlop, added some little gay animated sprites, removed Mareep, and gutted half the Japanese exclusive content before localizing it (gs ball, online support, etc).
Shit games with trash pokemon in a boring region made up entirely of small linear grassy routes and unrewarding caves, full of underleveld Kanto mons from the first route to just before you’re fighting Red, awful encounter methods, horrible evo stone distribution. The only people who defend GoySlopCrap are fat balding retards who played it when they were 3.
