I'll also say this. People give Nintendo a lot of shit for being the "gimmick" ones or the ones who don't make "traditional" consoles, but that's exactly why I bought them. The NES, the N64, and the Wii are far and away my favorite consoles from them (although I liked the SNES too). Forget joysticks and turn nobs, here's the D-Pad and two buttons (NES). Forget going left to right all the time in static 4 directions or MAYBE 8-directions, here's this weird controller but you can move around anywhere with this analog stick with crazy 3D graphics (N64). Wouldn't it be cool to actually swing your controller like a tennis racket and have it actually mean something? Think of all the cool ideas! Let's do it! (Wii). Hey! What if we let people play their games anywhere? On the TV, on their bed, on the plane? Wherever? Like a handheld and a console at the same time?!?! (Switch). I won't even need to get into Gameboy, GBA SP, and the DS Line of products they put out. I even have to give the Wii U credit for at least trying with the asynchronous gameplay thing. Unfortunate how it never got to see its potential realized.
I LOVED when Nintendo was doing non-conventional things. It set them apart from what Sony and Microsoft did which were essentially "let's do what we did last time, but better graphics". Switch 2 is literally just that but even more extreme than both the PlayStation and Xbox do. Complete with higher prices and even more shitty practices like $30 paid DLC for Pokemon before the game even came out. They used to be great compliments to my PC, but now I'm fine just sticking with PC alone. Although I still play the older devices, so it's more "PC + retro/classic".
I didn't proofread this so my apologies for any typos.
