What's weird about this slang is how utterly ubiquitous it is. Not just among zoomers, even older generations have started aping the slang to seem like they're "keeping with the times" or whatever. I see 35 year old Youtubers talking about "rizz" or "yapping" with 0 irony in their tone whatsoever.
People will say "slang has always existed" but it has literally never been like this. In the 2000s we had wiggers who used Afro-American gangster style slang, but that was just one segment of the culture. Elsewhere you had goths, emos, punks, weebs, nerds, or just regular normal people who thought rap culture was dumb and didn't talk like that.
Now, it's different, literally EVERYONE talks like this. You can observe two groups of 20-something year old zoomers, one a bunch of black youths in the hood, and another a group of white weebs at a convention, and both groups will use the EXACT same slang and put on the same faux-blaccent and talk about rap music or basketball or what-the-fuck ever.
It's fucking bizarre. There has to be some explanation for why everybody - regardless of race or subculture - just randomly decided to start acting and talking like they're black in the past 5 years. I guess it's the internet and social media blurring all cultures into one?
