ability pruning was something players hated back in the day. its funny to see them doing it again in order to make their already easy game easier.

Seriously my brothers gf said classic was too hard because she kept dying so she went to play retail because in her opinion it was easier and somehow no retail needs to be dumbed down more. I guess im out of touch with their target audience.

Classic priest had like 4 healing spells, druids had 3. One of the biggest problems in retail is having a whole lotta buttons that do the same thing and all of them feel like shit to push.

Retail holy priest alone is the biggest example of this button bloat problem. They had what amounted to two entire bars of healing skills and you STILL felt like you couldnt keep up with the damage output because all of them had to be tuned assuming the others existed.

This would literally make me play again. Last time i played my shaman healer had 45 acive buttons to press in different rotations for different scenarios. It was exhausting.

ff14 is a game i played on and off since 2022, tried it for the first time during a break i took from shitlands.
Yeah, it has issues, but modding in ff14 is extremely fun.
I made me a Worgen a tauren , orc, gnoll....
If you imagine something you can likely make it with mods.

I've played WoW for 20 years, mained resto shaman for 15 of those years - They needed to massively prune abilities this time. Buttons you'd press in a typical pvp match, not counting niche abilities like the poison dispelling totem, R.Shaman had around 50 buttons they would press regularly and slightly less in M+ dungeons & raids. It isn't unjustified like it was during WoD.

Because classic already exists for players who prefer simplistic games.
But the challenge should be tied to a player's ability, not the automated helpers the player can use and make the content irrelevant.

Controllers only have so many buttons so 90% of abilities get axed

Retail is a fucking chore to play though, so many redundant abilities. Whenever I crawl back to try it I feel like I'm looking my my hotkeys almost entirely and barely any of the fight
I think pruning is a good idea, just depends on how hard they go
